nowt wrong with TJs view on religion- have you seen what Whoppit writes?

What about it?

Well, a lot of what you have to say about religion is pretty inflamatory, ignorant, bigoted and hateful, Woppit. You can hardly argue that you are a 'moderate' in that respect now, can you? ๐Ÿ˜†

I'd be grateful if you can find an example of that.

Nonk - not a bully at all - far from it. The context does make a difference as clubber pointed out.

I will happily apologise again for any offence caused its a clearly over the top statement. so to anyone offended by that - sorry.

TJ - I didn't defend your statement at all. I don't think that context makes it defendable or makes a difference either. Quite the opposite. You've misunderstood or misread my post.

I think it shows exactly the sort of posts that bring things down here and put people off posting. That you think it's a defense to say that other people say worse is very sad.

What I did point out was that I've seen others amongst the usual suspect post stuff that's just as bad and equally nasty, spiteful and plain stupid on the usual here-we-go-again threads so that they should maybe sit on the naughty step for a second and think about it before trying to use it as an opportunity to attack you. He without sin and all that...

My post, for reference:

To be fair to TJ...

http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/jesus-christ/page/2#post-1861927

I'll agree that it's not a very nice post and unsuprisingly it does show him to be intolerant of other views but read the thread as it goes on and IMO, it makes TJ's position clearer and rather more akin to the position taken in any kind of political debate by many who'll no doubt line up with the lynch mob at this point - eg if you don't agree with my view on X then you are scum/stupid/etc - eg lazy demonising of people.

In summary, it's poor behaviour but no worse than the usual pathetic name calling that goes on in most of the politial threads. That intolerance is what drags the forum down and for me at least is what the 'big hitters' thing is all about.

We need to bring in a meadiator, someone with a bit of clout, someone with vision and clarity. I propose this fella, he's done a bit..

Otherwise we're gonna end up bitching and backposting and infighting forevalike..

For sure heated debates good, healthy, enlightening, nay mind changing, but it looks like the underslasses are now picking on the upperclasses..

Not healthy that

clubber - I didn't say you defended it and I don't think you did - I said that you had pointed out the context makes a difference. (which may not have been the best choice of words) Not the same thing.

I should have quoted your post but yo now have

TJ there is no 'context' which makes what you said ok.

you've been prepared to offer an apology (which usually means contrition and an understanding that what was done was wrong) but now you're defending it again?

I am not defending it, I did not say the context makes it OK. However if seen in context its easier to gain a fuller undertanding.

I meant the apology

Is there nothing I can say without people reading their own interpretations into it and telling me I have said something I have not?

*cracks knuckles*...I think I brought the "Big Hitter" concept to stw - just for a laugh (as ever) - and I hope it has helped bring humour and clarity to the behaviour of posters (myself included).

Blimey...TJ in "taking over the thread without meaning to" SHOCKER!!!!

TandemJeremy - Member
Personally - I think the whole "big hitters" thing terribly sad. Why someone (cynic al? ) felt it necessary to start this and why others think it pertinent escapes me. Whats it all about? feelings of inadequacy? I don't get it - especially when its most often used by prolific trolls / posters

What's wrong with me introducing the term? It was purely for laughs, like most of what I say on here. What others do with it, or how difficult you find that, is not my fault/resonsibility.

TandemJeremy - Member
No ironic smile - I do not behave like this, I find the motivation of those that do incomprehensible especially when the term is often used by prolific and argumentative posters

I know I argue a lot, I know I infuriate sometimes and I do sometimes insult folk in retaliation.

I do not have this need to go around putting people down in such a childish manner

You may mean this but can you see how the underlined statements go against it?

Many folk take the **** - me more than many - it's gonna happen online, we're not being serious, if you choose to take it all so seriously, then just deal with it and don't blame us.

Al on telling yourself its only in fun - we all know better. you are the single most unpleasant person on here. You set out to humiliate, upset and generally wind up people - me amongst others. Yo are widely disliked for it.

STW towers have banned you several times for the "fun" you have being nasty sptiteful and vindictive. I think that says a lot.

Killfile off?

Jeez, I have conceded various points re. my persona, but you are hiding behind "al's a bully!"...and just can't give anything up when it's me you are arguing with, can you?

How many time shave you been banned?
How do you know my intent?
Of course it suits you to believe it's malicious...the "cynic-al's lies" etc lines get more mileage.

Seriously, my world does not revolve around you, give it up.

EDIT who could have known how this thread would have ended up? :much irony:

Once for telling a blue joke. Never even warned for being offensive ( suprisingly)

Al - I asked you as you were friend of mine to back off and you refused although I did much later get an apology from you. Other people have many times commented on your unhealthy pursuit of me. It has lasted years. I have seen you gloating when you have upset me.

its a really nasty unpleasant obsession you have with me and many folk have commented on it. You simply do not realise how often I will post something and you will follow it with a nasty spiteful putdown. I counted ten times in one day once. Nasty personal attacks

Its not funny to deliberately wind folk up unless your enjoyment is in bullying people

You have ruined a friendship because you would not stop when asked to in the name of that friendship

I read these two posts of yours and spent some time answering them in the hope you might finally get some insight into your behaviour. laughing with people is good, laughing at them is bad.

And with that I go back to ignoring you

May I suggest you all get together in front of a very long wall and see once and for all just who can piddle the highest.

Because that's essentially what this has turned into..... as it has done on so many other occasions.

TJ and Al - Surely such evident manlove should be requited soonest...

Brokebike mountain?

TJ If you prefaced the dogmatic things you say with "I believe" or "I think" or "I may be wrong" or even IMHO, I can't see there would be any issue. It's the ex cathedra non-debatable statements of fact.

I'm sure you have done one of those personal-style things in your management roles in the past. Effective people have both strong personal views but an ability to adjust to the context rather than to dig in when challenged. This isn't Stalingrad.

I think "big-hitter" is rather cute and kind compared with things I have been called and seen others called on other forums.

Al - I asked you as you were friend of mine to back off and you refused although I did much later get an apology from you. Other people have many times commented on your unhealthy pursuit of me. It has lasted years. I have seen you gloating when you have upset me.

Really? My side? Most mutual friends acquaintances/friends have not said that to me: I've not solicited opinoins, but most have raised eyebrows at your internet persona, told me that in response to your queries that I've not been unreasonable in my interpretations of what you've typed.

its a really nasty unpleasant obsession you have with me and many folk have commented on it. You simply do not realise how often I will post something and you will follow it with a nasty spiteful putdown. I counted ten times in one day once. Nasty personal attacks

I pick up/flame lots of folk who post crap on here - I may do more so to you...guess why...because you do it so much more than anyone else...the tags up there may be exaggerated but they're not there for nothing.

Its not funny to deliberately wind folk up unless your enjoyment is in bullying people

If folk are grown ups, and either taking it all a bit seriously, or trolling themselves, then IMO they need to take it.

You have ruined a friendship because you would not stop when asked to in the name of that friendship

I guess it wasn't the friendship you though it was.

I read these two posts of yours and spent some time answering them in the hope you might finally get some insight into your behaviour. laughing with people is good, laughing at them is bad.

I too read your posts and thought before responding. If you think this place should be a nursery school then up to you.

And with that I go back to ignoring you

Well...good for you. That doesn't win the argument in my book.

Truth is though, some people on here need to be told what to think, as their own ideas are rubbish, and if they're told they are wrong, it's probbly cos they actually are.

+1.

So sort it out. Your spelling is WRONG. Even if it is intentionally mockney, stop it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I started reading this, but after about a page, it turned into the usual attention whores throwing their toys out of the pram and waving their handbags at each other in the standard keyboard warrior stylee. Which I suppose was what was bound to happen, another potentially interesting thread ruined by the domination and self absorbtion of the usual ****wits.

Imho.:)

Northwind I have no idea what you are talking about ๐Ÿ˜›

Anyway I made a couple of errors TJ (tho tho of course won't tread this)

You have ruined a friendship because you would not stop when asked to in the name of that friendship

You wanted me to stop questioning you when you were talking guff. That's not friendship.

I read these two posts of yours and spent some time answering them in the hope you might finally get some insight into your behaviour. laughing with people is good, laughing at them is bad.

An inability to see yourself objectively* and/or laugh at yourself is no better.
