I say no, wife says yes.

I'm now 12 days into a virus, suspected to be viral meningitis - not serious like the other version. General virus type symptoms, takes me about 3 hours to get past the headache in the morning to be able to do anything sensible - still. I saw the doc last friday and he said as its viral just ride it out. I've had 4 days off work, started again today WFH.

This afternoon a coughing session had me puking a bit.

So she said "thats it off you go in the morning". Thing is I'm slightly - 10%? - better than last week and feel I'll get the same advice and am therefore wasting Docs time.

Symptoms: Stiff painful neck, headaches, aching body/hair, slight lightheadedness, chesty-clear cough, bored out of my mind, main course OK no appetite for pudding.

?

Good evening ill person.GO. Dont mess about, better to be safe than 'he was ill after all, if only we'd caught it intime.

Do you feel like you're getting better, no change or feeling worse? If it's either of the last two, I'd say your wife is right, go and waste a bit of their time. If it's the former, even if it's only a little bit, probably not. Some viruses take bloody ages to shift.

I've been ill (but not quite as bad as you sound) for over two months with one, but every day I feel ever so slightly better than the day before, so that's okay (if extremely annoying).

GP here. Telephone consultation with your GP tomorrow if they have already seen you once. Let them, not a bunch of strangers here decide.

I agree with your missus; Yes, you are probably putting it on.

So she said "thats it off you go in the morning"

Once again, she's right! Stop shirking and get into work.

I'm glad I went. Apparently I now have a bronchial chest infection on top of the viral meningitis I still have - I'm a mess.

However I now have course of steriods and antibiotics to wage war on everything I'm carrying about, pretty strong stuff apparantly.

To be fair Drac, my hesitation is becuase I know that in most cases you just have to ride out a virus, and I didn't want to waste the Docs time. I'm not one to rush to the doctors over a sniffle.
