About two months ago one of our account execs where i work informed me he was buying a bike. Well done says I, just dont forget a helmet. F*ck that says he I dont want to look a plonker. Not long after our goods in guy asked me if the plain lens glasses I wore were a fashion statement or did I like looking a ****......
I went back to work today having had last week off only to be told the account exec was riding his bike and the chain broke. He went straight over the bars and landed on his head. He is still in hospital, condition stable. The goods in guy informs me his son rode his bike through a thorn bush scratching his eyeball and may not see clearly for a long long time.
Guess I'll stick to looking a plonker with eyes intact.....

What was the third bit of advice you gave?

Er, not really mate.

Obviously the account exec can go and get fked, but there's no schadenfreude to be had with a wee fella hurting his eye. What kid wears safety glasses when cycling ffs?

Generally, no matter how tempting, smugness is normally a mistake.

However, displaying smugness on STW is a schoolboy error.

Very easily, the power you put into the pedals doesn't meet any resistance, your weight goes forward very fast and you go over the bars.

schadenfrude. Fun till it happens to you.

I see why you are smug but enjoying others misfortune that hurts is not bvery nice.

Still - the day I hit my head and confess all on here I am sure the laughter will be audible the length of the country

How would that make your weight go forwards? Normally I push down on the pedals rather than in any horizontal direction.

Well done, you should run for Parliament.
I trust that you made a subtle, caring response like,"haha, I told that **** not to do that"

trust me, chains snapping can send you over the bars... I split my helmet last summer doing that, and still have a dodgy elbow from the same crash....

first rule of smug - never exhibit it outside your own little mind.

if you have true reason to be smug, other people will display it for you.

You have the vision. Use it sparingly and it will serve you well

chains snapping is the same action as your chain slipping, ever had that happen when you're out the saddle? what happens? you normally **** your little fella off the crossbar, and once I did go over the bars, so yeah a chain snapping could easily send you over the bars

Normally I push down on the pedals rather than in any horizontal direction.

do you? don't think so. you push forward and down don't you?
