I know there's probably loads of you that don't watch it but watching these inept muppets designing an E-Bike has to be worth an hour of your life - just for the sheer LOL/head in hands factor. Weds BBC1 9pm.

Nice One. I don't normally watch, but could be a good opportunity to shout my obviously 'expert' opinion at the TV....

Thought there might have been a bit more interest in this is it's bikes - oh well.
Bump for lunchtime bods if you missed it.

The whole episode could be about painting Gal Gadot in chocolate and I still wouldn't watch it

I didn't think many people on the Chat Forum side were still interested in bikes? :p

I’d watch that.

You'd try to lick it off her through the CRT screen.
It'd look like a Thorntons personalised egg by the time you'd finished.....

Lol, would need an e-fit to identify the people who bought the bikes. Mainly as they would be wearing balaclavas for riding them

I'd have gone down the budget route, create robust bomb proof e bikes which don't need much tech knowledge or cleaning. Coloured either TdF yellow or Sprint green. Sign me up Lord Sugar.

Those tools sold ONE AND A HALF MILLION QUID’s worth of bikes to the bike industry?!?!?

(Surely it was all for telly though, I mean, they didn’t really sell them?)

Why don’t they say how much profit that amounts to? If the challenge is just about turnover… they could just sell on thousands of those stupid helmets with little to no margin to help get the big figure.

Thing is, that basic blue e-bike with a nice little basket - perfect commuter bike, easy sale to people for a gentle pootle round the park, to the shops or a short hop to the office. It looked OK.

The selling was cringeworthy true but the bike shone through that.

The other team with their garish lycra - it's a showpiece thing that you put out to gain a bit of attetion for your brand, not soemthing that the vast majority of people would consider buying. Same with the bike, it's a shit design with mixed messages about what it's for and the e-fit name is dreadful.

I'd be interested to see the trade price figures for the bikes and the actual profit margins.

No, they’re not proper orders.

Still watching as Mrs has been on the phone which involves shouting down it, so no point on changing over.

As predicted, a total bunch of clueless tards. What was far less predictable was that people would actually buy them!

if they’d been a real product I’d very much doubt they’d got any orders.

Haven’t watched the apprentice for a few years, it’s even more cringeworthy than I remember.

Did they used to make products and actually sell them or has it always been for show?

Presumably they were frames that Raleigh already sell and they just chose the colours and terrible names.

I saw the bit where they said "sell for X quid" - did I miss the bit where they worked out margins?

Always been for show.

I’m sure it at least used to appear more realistic. That was just awful.

And I’m sure they used to discuss margin too.

In guessing it involved thumbing through Raleigh's catalogue and rebranding/changing the colour rather than designing a bike from scratch. Why the blue folder team didn't use a better colour than 'industrial machinery blue' and stick a wicker basket on the front ala Pashley?

The bishbashbosh guy designed an ebike version of an On-One bishbashbosh

I did love the guy getting all indignant about the red wheels, saying he preferred white. Like that would have somehow improved matters. Like most peoples decision making process when buying a bike is 'hmmmmmmm... burnt orange with red wheels, or burnt orange with white wheels'

The Supacaz stuff always looks like it's straight out of a Chinese catalogue but with a garish finish and crap logo. And a premium price tag.
Isn't the guy who runs it the son of the Specialized founder?

Until this episode, I'd never really appreciated the vast gulf between what they have to do and what they have the slightest clue about (and I say that from the point of view of someone who'd never heard of folding pedals).
