Looks like you'll be able to put your ANT+ data on it while its recording.
although given that Madison already represent a major sports camera company chances of them importing it are probably fairly small?
If you think it's a gopro competitor, I think you're missing out on the significance of it's particular blend of features.
The CM-1000โs debut lends some credibility to rumors that the UCI is set to legalize on-bike cameras, perhaps utilizing them to provide live streaming video and precisely the sort of live data, like gear choice and current power, that the CM-1000 is designed to provide.
Shimano may be aiming for something more than the casual camera market.
I'm not saying it's only a go-pro competitor I am saying that Madison may be unable to import it due to the contract they hold with the other company.
oooh likey.. connect to the phone via wifi for previewing too.. I see GoPro's going cheap soon - keep (another) look out on SportsPursuit..
Rumour has it that the model to supercede the Hero 3+ is less than 4 months from release.
Looks like it will be compatable with existing GoPro mounts as well.
Video on youtube.
Interesting they chose to use the fishing channel to launch it (unless this is one of a few "lets go..." movies.
Colour looks off throughout, but resolution isn't terrible. It looks unprocessed (unlike GoPro's videos).

you know the GoPro connects to a phone don't you?
And with no waterproof case will wait to see how long it lasts in winter

I wonder if that's linked to Madison having GoPro
And with no waterproof case will wait to see how long it lasts in winter
The vid says waterproof to 10m - that's not bad for normal use.
Mud and grit could be a problem for the buttons, but cycle computers are pretty robust with similar tech.
Anyway - this particular model doesn't interest me, but it could be good if they keep developing it for broadcast during races (both mountain and road).

yep and until it's been used I won't really believe it, wait until the world wide (non UK) beta test starts
and if it is that will be great! Just until it's done a good winter I will reserve judgement ๐ If it's going strong after having grit and crap smeared over the lens all winter then I will believe them. I'm guessin you don't expose your camera lens to 30mph wet puddle splashes

Yes totally agree - no desire to be on the bleeding edge.
The case isnt just waterproof. Its protection too.
I've dropped my gopro of my motorbike, and without the case it would surely have been damaged.

I would say it's unlikely at the moment. Unless you know something I don't?
as this suggests

Do you know something, or is this supposition? I'm not challenging you BTW, its just that I'm on the hunt for a good deal on an action cam, and will keep an eye on SP if they are going to be doing (better) deals on GoPro.

So pretty much like the Garmin VIRB which is also waterproof (IPX-7), has ANT+, a screen, built-in wifi and GPS?

looks good...any news on the cost of one of these?

Does look good. I wonder how it will get speed etc. data from a GPS head unit though.
There's a cycling video on the shimano site now (some people have uploaded it to youtube, but they don't look good)

It won't from a standard Garmin GPS head unit, because they don't transmit that data - you'll need a special slave GPS unit which transmits data according to the multisport speed and distance profile http://www.thisisant.com/resources/multi-sport-speed-and-distance-monitor/ (not sure if that works unless you're logged in as an Ant+ Adopter). I think that's the only profile which transmits full GPS data, though there is also the bike speed/cadence profile for just speed.
