I need to replace the stretchy fabric strip that's sown around the end of my ancient Endura jacket. It's black, slightly elastic, soft and about 1cm wide, doubled over the cut end of the fabric.

Any idea what I should be searching for?

I would be searching for somewhere like this:

https://zippystitch.com/

They ^^ sorted out my beloved stretchy ultra lightweight Specialized road jacket, which I stupidly took on a single track off-road ride and got snagged and ripped out a branch. After crack-handed attempts to fix it with iron-on patches.

Knicker elastic.
You can even get lacy stuff if you want to add a bit of sexiness to your jacket.

Sound like you're looking for 'fold over elastic'.

It's available online from ebay/amazon etc.

Lycra edging tape is a good bet:
