Can anyone recommend me a semi slick tyres for a bit of commuting?
Conti Top Contact 50 x 559 are outstanding in every way.
I've used Bontragers and Continentals, both fine. Better than Maxxis slicks but not as fast nor as smooth (more stable round corners and over potholes). I'd go for DMR Moto though (old kevlar ones) - fast as ****, no punctures ever, fine off road (family type paths).
Used Specialized Nimbus (maybe armadillo's) for a short "tour" (C2C camping).
Rolled more easily than knobblies and no punctures despite much broken glass on the Sustrans routes.
2nd vote for Armadillos, get the 1.95 ones and forget about how porky they are just be happy in th knowledge that they are damn near impenetrable to sharp things.
