As much a I like using it I've finally accepted that carrying my DSLR and kit is a pain and I want to sell/pex for a compact system set up - possibly a Sony A6000 0r Olympus OMD

It's a Nikon D7000 with 18-105 lens, a Nikkor 35mm and Tamron Zoom  - all in good nick and hardly used

Any suggestions where best to sell it or might I get a good pex?

Talk Photography has a pretty good sale forum, I've bought and sold a few bits through there. I've gone the same way as you, mostly use a little mirrorless now, but I've hung on to my DSLR kit as I still like it every now and then. Though the focus on the body is borked, which makes the lenses pretty useless.

I should probably do something about that.

Ebay was where I flogged a lot of my kit. Provided it's all sent Special Delivery and properly insured you shouldn't have a problem.

Or, you could put up a stealth ad... 😉

MBP will either buy or part ex your stuff pretty painlessly.

eBay will get you the best price but trading in (with MBP or other equivalent) will be less hassle. The net difference to you can be as much as 30%.

I've used mbp and Wex by post, and Park Cameras in person. It's painless and the prices are all pretty similar, so I now just go to Park Cameras because it's less hassle than sending boxes.  I'm sure that e-bay would get better prices for e.g. bodies, but maybe not for less sought-after lenses?

Yep, eBay is great for cameras and lenses.  Used lenses sell for fairly close to new prices a lot of the time.

I must be lucky on eBay though as I have sold over 1,000 things and don't seem to get all the problems others seem to.

sadexpunk - it's a very nice complete set up - it's certainly better than entry level kit - body, 2x zooms, Ix fixed standard and a flashgun - I've not worked out prices yet - can I get back to you?

It's a great body - couple of levels up from the entry level Nikon, if a couple of versions behind. The kit lens is fine and I'm a big fan of the 35 prime. If I had any disposable income I'd be well tempted by the body to replace my old one.

I've just sold my canon setup - got a price from MPB, offloaded a nice lens to someone one here for a little more than MPB offered, MPB took the rest. Really easy and very helpful

I used MPB and got prices I was happy with without having to deal with idiots on eBay. Really easy & straightforward to deal with. Bought my Fuji x100s from them too.

Hi,

I opened this thread as I'm also looking for recommendations on where to list photography gear but notice your possibly in the market for an OMD.

I have an M5 mk2 up for sale, fantastic bit of kit, upgraded to a 1.2 though and the 5 has sat in it's box since. Low shutter count, great condition, lens option available, 2x batteries . Gimme a shout if of interest .

Steve, I've listed it on Shpock for 600 including the 25mm f1.8. But open to offers.

https://en.shpock.com/i/W6E16C9x0AdPUvoy/?lft=

Sizewise, although a compact body it is very well designed and with my average size hands found it very comfortable to use, however with the longer, heavier Pro lenses on I'd say you may want to invest in the battery grip.

I think it gets the balance of comfort, control and pocketability bang on.

What sort of photography are you interested in?

If after your trial you are still considering, have a think, I'd take 500 for the lot or feel free to make an offer for the body.

I have used MPB to buy and sell before, usually look on there for lenses etc. If you're looking at the A6000 I can definitely recommend it, I own one after an upgrade from a canon 1100D DSLR (Nothing fancy) and the A6000 blows the Canon away but it is also 6 years newer I think. Really simple to use and pretty compact (Depending on lens), the sigma 30mm I use is pretty beefy but still smaller than the Canon 1100D with even kit lens. Feel free to message me if you want to ask any questions.
