We may have to dispose of some krugerrands in the next month or so for an elderly relative. Is there an easy way to do this - cash for gold type thing or do krugerrands have more worth than scrap value?

Cheers

I've used Chards bit that was a few years ago.

They should have intrinsic gold value.

You could try Cooksons? I am not sure if they accept coins-worth asking. I have found them the best for both hallmarked and unhallmarked scrap

Bullion by post.

They have a free app which is useful for tracking live prices.

Current buying price for kruggerands now is £1293 each.

I sold some sovereigns on eBay a good few years ago. Was the closest thing by far to value I could get even with eBay charges.

ATS bullion, which might be bullion by post trading name.

There’s another one in the city, I forget the name now.

They are a one-ounce coin, so you should be getting pretty close to the spot price. They are not legal tender though, so there will be CGT liability.

Sold my dad's to a local coin dealer, just wasn't prepared to take the risk with such small but high value items and didn't loose out too much in the scheme of things.

Years ago I sold sovereigns to a local coin dealer.

Just dropped on with some ID and they transferred the money. You can check the price of gold coins online simply enough so you'll know if you are getting a fair price.

Reminds me of Lethal Weapon 2. I wasn't even sure they were a real thing until I saw this thread.

Does the dealer bite the coins to test them?

It reminded me of a young Patsy Kensit doing a dodgy South African accent.
