Do I go for adjustable or non adjustable?

If the non adjustable get the same as neck size or up/down a size?

Neither. Learn to tie one properly.

Adjustable is usually best for black and white ties, but for white non-adjustable can sometimes be a bit better (especially as they tend to be easier to tie anyway because they're less slippy). If you go non-adjustable, go for your neck size exactly as if it's too long or short it will obviously affect the size of the knot (this won't matter huge amounts though unless it's a big difference).

Depends on what shirt you are wearing. Non adjustable for a wing collar, doesn't matter for a normal one.

Wing and black tie. Will go for exact neck size.

Thanks to most of you. 😉

Adjustable - no one can tell the difference and they are more versatile.

You are asking about a proper bow tie yet you are wearing a wing collar?

No. No. No. No.

Go to the corner and have a word with yourself. Then buy a proper shirt with a proper collar.

I'm glad you said that TooTall. Wing collars should be left to the amateurs....

Terry it is! I'm the best door closer 2012-13

It's for wearing with a kilt so wing collar it is. Any of you guffs care to comment on that? 😉

Yes, it was the 80s when the fashion faux- pas of wing collar with black tie came in. Somehow managed to linger as well but dying out now it seems.

You get both. You wear the clip on most of the night and when you get hot and sweaty you take the clip on one off and put the self tie loose around your neck 🙂
Unfortunately I do do that 🙂

non-adjustable.

if you are going to the trouble of tying it yourself, you don't want it to look like a clip on (which adjustables do)

Wing collar with a kilt? Wear a proper, bespoke white shirt, with a proper collar and stop looking foolish.

Your bow tie ought to be not adjustable and just learn to tie it properly.

A clip-on is handy later in the venom when it's time for your date to wear it.
