I need to do one on line mainly to claim back tax on business miles but also, can I declare a "loss" from a self employed business interest and get anything back?

Depends on a lot of factors.
I would get a tax accountant to do it for you. For £150ish they will almost certainly save you more than that in tax.

The simple answer is 'Yes'.
You will need to complete a 'Self Employed' page for the business & there is a box you complete to claim the 'loss' against other income.
