Google puts me Glasgow, Penrith, Scotch Corner, Doncaster, Cambridge, is this the best way or is there a better way?
BTW travelling through the night
Glasgow, Penrith, Scotch Corner, Doncaster, Cambridge
Best way IMO
That's the way I used to do it when I lived in ipswich. So so so glad I don't have to do that drive any more. The a14 is by far the most monotonous boring road anywhere.
depends where youre starting from,
i regularly do edinburgh to scotch corner on the bus, often i barely see more than half a dozen cars, and the few trucks i see are all regulars who make a good effort to let other traffic past quickly.
i use the A1 for this mostly.
it takes about 10-15mins longer to go down the A68 to newcastle, (in a bus) as, although you have to drive slower, its shorter.
my satnav takes me past glasgow too, and in the daytime thats what id use, but at night the A1 is no problem.
there are a fair few speed cameras btw.
+1 for the A14 too, its boring as @#+k!
Of course it depends where you are coming from but I would try to avoid the A1 - I find it a very slow route to the south. I far prefer to go to the m74 even from Edinburgh
