Help !
Looks like a big effort in some areas, reminded myself to do some work on this in wet evenings 👍
The Ramblers are responsible for thousands of miles of BOATS and other green lanes being reclassified to exclude traffic.
Personally they can stew in their own medicine.
I'm in two minds about these sorts of things. Do we need bureaucracy, do we need to highlight trails, do we need to stop riding cheeky, I think not.
When I go riding I just ride stuff that's rideable and do so in a polite manner. I seldom encounter anyone, let alone anyone who give a toss about ROW or knows about ROW.
Mostly its tracks in the woods. I wouldn't say they are lost, some are overgrown for sure. But if it's passable then ride it. Cheeky is fine. They are dog walker tracks, farm animal tracks, gaps in the trees tracks, stuff that's created by nature, terrain, erosion etc.
Not sure if it matters that some may have been a ROW long ago and will no longer be recorded as such. That, it seems to me, won't change the riding of a lot of us.
Am I missing something ?
I contacted the council about a misclassification. Problem is proving it, you try getting the evidence that a footpath is a bridleway.
Thats not a surprising difficulty, but why bother. It's not like we cant ride FP's anyway. Just be polite and courteous.
because the arse who owns the land is an arse and has a thing about cyclists on his land? perfectly happy with walkers and horses just not bikes.
a more effective use of your time would be to campaign for a "right to roam" policy similar to the one in Scotland.
