Im after a Sat Nav which also has an FM transmitter and so i can play music from my phone through my sat nav and onto my stereo.
Does anyone use this at the moment - which Sat Nav do you own?
Sorry, just playing devil's advocate here...
I use my mobile as satnav and for music, then a BT to FM transmitter in the cigarette lighter port to put both navigation and music through the car stereo.
Is there a reason you want a dedicated sat nav?
do you have carplay android auto, then you can just play from your phone. Or you could just play from your phone.

Plus my stereo is pretty old
Where are you going abroad ? You can buy e sims these days very cheaply and just use Google maps etc
We recently went to Montenegro and paid £10 for a 50gb esim

OK then get a cheap tomtom off ebay. As most people use their phones then sat navs are probably quite cheap now. I've kept mine in case my phone company start charging for roaming.

You can download areas for Google maps or Here then use them offline. They obvs won't have the latest traffic but in my experience that was often a bit shaky on standalone sat navs.
Pop this on your phone and download the relevant maps onto your phone if data is a problem.

Use a proper navigation app that has all its own mapping data, then you don’t need to use data from online.
I use TomTom, have done for six years or so, with a subscription. That means I get regular updates of all the maps, and I could, if necessary, install maps for whatever part of Europe I was travelling to, or the United States, or pretty much anywhere. It’ll also play music that I have on my phone, and it’ll adjust the audio when giving directions.
There’s also CoPilot, Navmii, and Waze, all of which I’ve used in the past, but I found TomTom to work the best for my purposes. A recent update now gives a voice message different to the chosen guidance voice alerting me to an alternative shorter or quicker route - previously it just gave an audio alert with a direction on the screen.
Admittedly, I now use it through my car’s infotainment system, which has CarPlay, and is so much easier that using a screen mount, but I drove many thousands of miles in dozens, if not hundreds of different cars using a cheap suction mount from eBay without any real issues, other than some cars either only having a 1w USB port, or none whatsoever, so I had to use a power brick to keep my phone charging!
Which Tomtom do you have which plays the music please
If you have an aux socket on your stereo you are much better off getting a bluetooth aux jack rather than FM transmitter as the sound quality is miles better.
