I believe he was being taken to the station so they could get a copy of his footage.

That's what I thought at first, but seemed to be quite a circuitous route to the station, and you can see the Clio with the smashed windscreen parked up by Forum Les Halles at the very end, so it must have beat them there.
Looks more like they decided to take the Santa Biker on a blue light escorted jolly around Paris to say thanks.

Easily so long as you wear a helmet, mind you I once gave a colleague a lift from central Manchester to Bolton with him wearing suit + bob the builder site helmet, even passed a police car and wasn't stopped 😆
