I once spent an entire evening poring over OS maps of western Scotland looking for the island of Struay as my daughter was learning about it in school. (KS1 Geography, theres loads on the web about the place, even maps of the island). Whole place is made up.

I used to go to Shell Island every year. Brilliant sand dunes for jumping off.
There was Dung Ball Island in the Bristol Channel.
It was in the mouth of the River Avon.....probably washed away now.
I still can't figure out where Qwghlm is.
