We have a Samsung smart tv. I've connected a 1TB hard drive to record stuff and that works well. Just wondered if it's possible to download things through the iplayer app onto the hard drive. The app on the iPad allows this since it was updated but there doesn't seem to be an option to download on the TV app. Anyone know if it's possible to update or change the tv app to enable this?

I don't think it's possible but then it's not possible to take your telly on the bus or tube either.

The samsung apps on mine are updateable, unfortunately it is a while since I have done it so I can't quite remember how!! Seem to remember the option is fairly obvious and doesn't require much searching around.

Fairly sure its not possible on the current Samsung iPlayer app. If they do upgrade to make it possible then I guess it would be a limited time download instead of permanent copy?
Not sure how this would work.

Just try to set it to record from the live channel 🙂

Has anyone tried the Demand 5 app? Mine doesn't steam as smoothly as the iPlayer (which is faultless) Just wondering if this is a broadband speed issue or just a shoddy channel 5 app.

(Demand 5 only used for wifes trash and childrens programs!)

Ah, yes should have explained that the reason I would want to download is because our broadband is so painfully slow that iplayer hangs all the time. I assume an app capable of this would have some memory assigned to it so that th copies don't remain for ever - I'm guessing this is how it works on an iPad or pc.

Since the tv has no memory I guess there's no demand for an app like this.
