Wonderful stuff. I didn't realise it was ready. I would have picked some from the marshes when I was back in Naarfolk last week if I'd known. My mum used to post packages of it to my sister when she moved down to the big London.

Never tried it. Does it go well with fish finger butties ?

July and August for picking it fresh.
Growing by the coast, it has a salty taste so should be good in yer fish finger butties.
I eat it raw as I pick it.

It's nice, but not particularly special. My girlfriend picked up a few packs in Tescos for 20p. Bargain!
Or so I thought, until the resultant stomach upset for 2 days.
Can't imagine what's in it that didn't agree with me 🙁

We consume worrying amounts of the stuff. Can't remember the last time we had fish without it!

Like all things Sea based it feeds on the bottom and favours deep estuary mud. Prefers brackish conditions and wait for it... grows especially well downstream of sewage treatment works.

2 folks have died near the Blackwater near West Mersea Island tring to get the stuff, got caught in the deep mud and got dragged under..

Just saying in case you fancy jumping in and grabbing a handfull like.
