I need some advice please?
I have a nine KM run on sunday, and planned to get in three more runs before then.
Assuming that if I try to run with a cold, and that I find that I can manage it without feeling crap, is it a good idea? Will I do myself any harm? Thanks.

it's not exactly a taper, is it?

Running with a cold is a *bad thing*. I'd rest and recover.

probably a bad idea. May feel 'ok' but it could lay you flat if you try to do any exercise

Depends if it's chesty/coughy/wheezy or just a blocked nose and a bit of a head - been running with the latter over the last couple of weeks, actually makes me feel a bit better.

But I would err on the side of caution and not. Maybe 1 run friday if you're feeling a bit better. You're not going to get any fitter in a week really.

Thanks, just a minor snuffle in the nose, but maybe I'll take it easy.

As long as all your symptoms are above your neck you'll be fine. Probably.

Running between now and then will make little difference anyway except maybe make you more ill.

You're not going to get any fitter in the few days left until the race, so let your body spend it's time and energy dealing with the cold.

Above the neck ... maybe

Below the neck .... no

Take it easy then, I'll rest and see how it goes

In your head, go ahead. In your chest, have a rest.

However, do not underestimate the benefits of fresh legs, couple of very short runs max between now and Sunday would be optimal

This is the accepted wisdom in my running club and appears to work.

Although it's "above the neck... get out there and train you big shandy"
