I've used mapmyrun a bit and it seems dreadful - slow, keeps hanging, doesn;'t remember my postcode etc...

Anything else worth trying?

If all you want is a record of your run Google Maps works.

I use Good Run Guide - It's £10 a year; but pleasingly bereft of intrusive advertising and also allows you to log your runs / rides.

bikehike.co.uk for me, mainly because it allows you to toggle between Google maps for on-road recording and OS mapping for off-road recording.

You can't beat a Forerunner for keeping records - very easily and no messing about. Obviously it means shelling out a couple of hundred quid - but I've never regretted it. It's a good gadget.

On a similar topic, you can use Garmin Connect website for logging runs as you can now manually upload .tcx .gpx and .fit files.

It was a replacement for a previous one and its not in the box but never been used and has cables and docking station etc.

Wouldnt be without one now!

Endomondo is the one I'm currently using.

Used to use Nokia Sports Tracker which was great.

The feature I'm after in these exercise mapping apps, is to be able to create your own group of friends so that you can see eachothers exercise.

Before I got my FR 310XT, I used Mapometer:

http://gb.mapometer.com/en/

Has pretty good logging facilities and doesn't keep trying to sell you premium membership like MapMyRun.

Endomondo would be better if you could overlay / view OS maps, it also won't work out your total ascent, and selecting saved routes is a PITA - could be a lot simpler.

i used mapmyrun, but wasnt enamoured with it tbh, endo is ok, but fetch allows loads of geeky analysis

Thanks folks, I used walkjogrun and it seems OK - I need it to work out distances before a run, I use endo to log stuff.

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/

You have to hit "more options" & select your country before trying to put in a UK place name but other than that, it's quite nice

I found this quite useful when trying to find distances, basically allows you to draw on top of Google maps so you can go off road.
