Running clubs - affiliation?

One for those currently in running clubs; is your club affiliated to Scottish, English, Welsh Athletics? If so, do you have the requisite number of certified Run/Jog Leaders and/or Coaches? We're struggling to get SA to run a course in Inverness so that we can certify a few more for our club and thus to get enough volunteers to step up as JLs. We're primarily after affiliation for the insurance benefits, rather than the discounts etc. 

Another option we might consider is some sort of insurance for the club without needing to affiliate at all. Or perhaps we're over-thinking this and should carry on without that additional "protection"?
