[Closed] Rumination/dwelling on the negatives... how to keep it at bay

For one reason or another over the last few years I seem to have ended up with very negative/insecure/destructive people around me, particularly at work. I think the fact that I'm competent and generally well-spoken of and get on well with people may be making me a target.

Either way, my boss for the last six months has actively stopped me from doing the job I was employed to do and given me admin tasks.
I've been considering going to HR but she's recently been demoted and the new boss looks like he'll be putting a stop to that - and he likes my ideas so there's every chance I'll get the opportunity to do some proper work now, and previous boss will get the message and quit.

But this previous boss also recruited a junior member of the team who's a) not very experienced b) very negative c) very opinionated. These two get on very well - they're kindred spirits in their general ability to see faults in others and bitch about it rather than focus on making their own contributions to the team...

Basically, I'm trying to just step away from their whole negativity and bitchiness/criticism but not managing it very well.

I think they'll shut up when the new boss comes back from holiday in 3 weeks but could do with some techniques to stop myself from constantly ruminating on how unpleasant these two people are and just shut them out...

Anyone got any useful techniques here? Ruminating on negatives is something I can have a habit of doing and wouldn't mind getting to grips with it...

Theres more to life than working in a job you don't enjoy.

Find a new job.

You've seen their faults and recognise your own. You can't fix theirs but you can yours. But sorry I have no idea how.

No matter how resiliant you are, it's not worth working in a poisenous work environment. Find a new job with nice / normal people!
