Just watched it again - Jane was looking at the ball and committed. Watch it with your other eye perhaps flash ?

I think its you that need to open the other eye, Jane realised he had been beaten to the ball and so tackled the man in the air. A card on two levels, 1. cynical foul play in the red zone and 2. Dangerous play.

I have seen welsh players carded for less and seen them carded for play like Kaino's which was a cynical elbow to stop the player coming through. All blacks always seem to get away with it though.

All three incidents could have been cards - another day another ref. None really cast iron perhpas apart fro teh tackle in teh air.

I am sure clips will be up on youtube

All blacks will struggle against the likes of SA if they cannot find a fit number 8.

stevewhyte cannot be bothered looking back thru the thread but are you suggesting that the Jane tackle wasnt a card? Could you try and justify that?

the Kaino incident reminded me of the one where AW Jones got binned against England for tripping the man coming trough. AW Jones was rightly binned cannot stand cynical play and the yellow was justified.

got to go and take dog to vet I shall look forward to continuing this later.

I don't really understand the point either.

Its about opinion. The only fact is what the ref said.

Didn't see the Sonny Bill one. Tackle in the air, not a card incident. Nor was the trailing arm.

Doesn't matter anyway, NZ would have won with twelve men on the field.

good to see the usual hot and cold french side today, AB’s are far from unbeatable I predict yet another major choking at the hands of the wallabies in the semis 😆

Final will be the might that is England against the wallabies, scotland to concede a hat full next weekend in what will be another ugly win as our pack hide the ball and steam roll the scots into submission. To all the fellow home nations remember WINNING UGLY is far better than playing a running game and losing. 😆

In all seriousness I would like to wish the Welsh, Irish and Scots all the best in progressing to the quarters good luck lads hopefully one of us can bring Old Bill home

Not an almost certain score - if he had not hit him in the air he would have been available to tackle.

Been drunk as a skunk since before the AB's game, just slept it off.
AB's looked awesome as usual. Peaking too early as usual.
That tackle was in the air. I have no idea if thats a yellow but it ought to be.

England well I dunno obviously better than scotland as they didn't put as many points on them as us, but who knows what will happen after the argies and us beat the jocks.

not as it happend he went for the ball and missed, had he just let Traile have the ball and been ready for the tackle I could agree with you.

I'd be happy to see The Orcmaster and his Tundlemuppets bring it back to the Northern Hemisphere as well. Oh, and even le Jester du Court and his maverick band of mercurial bleus! Anyone but New Zealand beyond that! 😈

Well i'm just happy that Sale seem to have rediscovered some winning ways! Seems a long, long time since we won the Premiership, only early days yet but with a bit of luck we won't be in another relegation dogfight this yr!

It will be a crap match vs Scotland - usually is. Scots are the mega-spoliers and England may well retreat into their shells. Good to see two fun games today.

Predictions for S v A tomorrow?

Me too C-F, can't see the Argies letting a quarter final slip past them.

It looked more like the French didn't really want to win more than anything else today. At times it looked like they were deliberately throwing the game [end of cynical view]

You have to fancy Argentina for the win tomorrow

Should be a good game - the two teams are evenly matched in reality. I think / hope you will be surprised how good Scotland are. this is crunch time for Robinson and Scotland

I'm supposed to be heading off on a 151km Sportive at around eight. However, I am bug ridden this evening so I reckon I'm giving it a miss. Getting up for Ireland's struggle to look good against Russia though.

I am hoping for a Scotland win, we always play gash against lower teams but somehow are able to raise the game against ok opposition. However having watched France be destroyed I am not sure I want us to have to face the All Blacks.

Oh well just have to beat England too 😀

England played ok, but Romanias defence appeared v poor in the midfield. Hopefully we can defend better.

Surely the plan is to lose to the Argies so that England can still be knocked out?

These are the games that world cups are all about. Two teams who should be at the top of their game and evenly matched. The game will turn on a few moments. I dread more blundered scoring opportunities.

Should be a cracker

*bites nails*

What are you talking about??

We are going to beat the argies and then beat the English and finish top of the pool 🙂

We won't have to face the all blacks in the quarters!!! Haha

I see no NZ haters here. I just hate to see foul play being allowed. YOu feel hard done by you should be a England fan - now they get some stick including NZ crowd that is supporting anyone but england

To be fair they also support anyone against Australia. Its called rivalry although i must say the Kiwis can be a bit harsh sometimes in their inability to separate being sporting from outright hatred.

taking a man out in the air when he was almost certain to score is what yellow cards were invented for, ref bottled it

We watched it about 10 times, the guy with me is a Super15 ref and working at RWC as well. Jane was going for the ball, he never even took his eye off it and wrapped the player up in the process. Could have gone either way with any one of the refs but the view from my somewhat more experienced and professional colleague was that he wouldn't have blown it up either. And no he isn't a kiwi, neither am I. The Kaino one could have been a card and Sonny Bill applied his borderline league technique to a bloke trying to duck under the tackle - again wasn't foul play apparently but looked a bit ropery. He did apologise to the bloke though straight away. The ABs are defintely starting to show some good signs. Dagg was excellent, hope he is OK and Jane as well is brilliant. McCaw had a good game and Conrad Smith as always was steady and consistent. I do question their flat passing sometimes though and some of Sir Ritchie ruck and maul tactics are defintely borderline.

Absolutely horsing it down in Wgtn this morning and just gone southerly so cold and wet game coming up tonight. It may clear but doubtful. Will be nippy in the kilt department but I'll have a few extra beverages to keep the cold out.

That Samoa game later today in Akl will be a monster game.
