I put 40p on Wales to win and North to score try.

I'm in the money!

Also got all UK nations to win first games.

That was knocked on! Whatever. No one is going to be too worried by those two. The scots will beat both.

Fair play to Wales for getting the first score in the second half and letting France implode while they cleaned up the mess. Huget will have to look at replays of that for the rest of his life.

Bit of a let-down of a game - normally expect a bit more from Wales v France. Can't believe quite how shite France were in the second half.

Played shit, won in Paris. I'll take that. Ireland struggled last season too and look what they did!

It's an away win in Paris to start the 6N. I don't think it's a get out of jail free card. France lost that game - the same as they lost the game to Ireland last year, even if they played better than they did tonight. No team has ever come back from that far down in the 2nd half in the 6N, so fair play to Wales, they were helped by France being silly, but **** it, it's an away win in Paris in the first game. They can go forward with confidence after that.

Huget will be popular with his team mates as will the other chap. They blew a 16 point lead having looked pretty comfortable. The poor place kicking didn’t help them either. Another hit and miss 6N for France by the looks of it.

Guessing Wales will be happy it with that. Their scrum stood up well to a big old French pack and they had good composure when they looked to be on course for a loss and a very poor performance.

The French pack dominated until half time and then ran out of puff by the end the welsh were defending well and the French forwards went nowhere.

Hope Liam is fit for at least the week after next.

Any away win (other than Italy) sets you up very well for the Championship - doesn't really matter how it comes about.

Biggest second half comeback in 5/6 Nations history.

Tidy.

Also, never mind Huget watching repeats of his cock up, I can't stop watching it! Couldn't have happened to a etc...

A good watch for a Neutral! Wales defence was much more aggressive in the 2nd half - stopping the Monster French on the gain line.

Let’s not forget how shit conditions were either. This is one hell of a winning streak by Wales - good year to be peaking!!

True. Those conditions were minging.

It really was a game of two half’s. The french must have thought job done at half time so didn’t bother coming back out.

Conditions were absolutely as bad as they get last night. It pretty much hammered down all the way through and was about 0 degrees.

10 handling errors by wales in the first half due to the greasy conditions. A couple of bad bounces etc. Tactics were all wrong - they tried to play too much for the conditions.

Obviously a bit of a talking to at half time and bide your time until the big French lads get knackered or too confident.

I was on the edge of my seat (in a bad way) throughout. It’s not an easy place to go and play and win. Look at Ireland’s battle last yr. I say as a wales fan that was a lucky escape and wasn’t in keeping with how they’ve played the last year or so. Hopefully just an away blip in nasty conditions.

Tactics dont come into it really what did you want Wales to do, kick tobthe corners and try and maul the monster French pack. The tactics of keeping the ball in play were vindicated by the French blowing out of their arse after 45mins. Wales didnt change tactics or improve 2nd half France just ran out of puff. Tips and Navidi did nothing differentvsecond half they just had more impact.

I have to agree with AA here, Wales played the same game throughout. It was a masterpiece if calm confidence, they didn't panic when France got ahead.
The frogs thought they had won it and were either too knackered or not motivated enough in the 2nd half.
Good win.

True, but if the bloke who is 10-20kg heavier than you isnt coming at you as hard and fast you are more likely to catch it!! France's line speed dropped markedly after 45mins.

Have to say when AWJ got done for blocking to pull back Moriartys try I wondered what will happen if Ireland are reffed that way, they'd be screwed.

It would be great if you pair would compile a list of suitable people you deem worthy of contributing to the thread? Anyone not included would know they aren't welcome then.

Well thats Wales used their " get out of jail free" card in the first round. Lets hope they haven't got another up their sleeves for when they meet scotland 😉

Hmmmmmmmmm. wish I felt confident. too many back row injuries has wrecked our gameplan. Perhaps Tonie has a few tricks up his sleeve but last year he got comprehensively schooled by Gatland

Actually you're right, Wales have earned the benefit of the doubt. First game of the championship and in Paris. Anscombe is a concern though.
France completely fell apart, very bad signs for them.

Did you notice the irony-meter explode when PoC said that he hated seeing blocking runners in front of players trying to catch a high ball. (It was Josh Adams blocking iirc.) 😁

My thought process started with someone a couple of pages ago who said they were supporting the underdogs this weekend -Wales, England and Italy.

Wales underdogs? On a roll of victories, 3rd in the world rankings (vs France at 9th), haven’t lost to France, home or away, for quite a few years. (Other than the farce two years ago.) A strong Welsh side vs a WTF French. It was Wales’ game to lose. But if you only watch a few internationals a year then you might think it’s still 2003 and Wales are still crap..

Or it was a light hearted bit of banter to wind people up who can’t see the funny side of things and have massive, daffodil-shaped, chips on their shoulders? 😉

Right - I am off to build a pillow fort behind the sofa. You might see me again in a few days. I see a giant banana skin about to leap in front of us causing much hilarity unless you are a Scotland fan.
