It would be great if you pair would compile a list of suitable people you deem worthy of contributing to the thread?

My thought process started with someone a couple of pages ago who said they were supporting the underdogs this weekend -Wales, England and Italy.

Wales underdogs? On a roll of victories, 3rd in the world rankings (vs France at 9th), haven’t lost to France, home or away, for quite a few years. (Other than the farce two years ago.) A strong Welsh side vs a WTF French. It was Wales’ game to lose. But if you only watch a few internationals a year then you might think it’s still 2003 and Wales are still crap..

Well that was me and I’ll admit to pretty much only watching a few internationals. However, I know fine well how good Wales are, I also believed that France could potentially play very well and had home advantage. [Perhaps because I only watch a few internationals, but I remember the Wales v France game last year].

All-in-all I thought both teams played well yesterday. I think Scotland fans who believe they have nothing to fear from either team are getting ahead of themselves. Scotland away to France, I’d call Scotland the underdogs there!

Right – I am off to build a pillow fort behind the sofa. You might see me again in a few days. I see a giant banana skin about to leap in front of us causing much hilarity unless you are a Scotland fan.

I think it might take until the second half until you can come out from behind the sofa, but you could well romp away with it then. However, I’m hoping for a super tense game like yesterday!

Bought beer to celebrate/commiserate depending on how it goes. Think the kids learn all the bad words when the six Nations are on. Smallest one wearing a Nessie t shirt with saltire on it to help.

Anscombe is a concern though

He wasnt great, but us welsh are always calling for a new 10 after the pack get pumped and feed them shit ball. He's borderline international standard but yesterday certainly was a day to expose his weaknesses rather than strengths. He wasnt helped by playing with a 9 making his first big game start, Tomos wasnt great but he'll learn from it. Anscombe could well play 15 v Italy is Liams broke. I prefer Patchel but he's been out for a long time and is still broken. No idea who will be bench 10 v Italy if 1/2p, Patch and Liam are broken. Jarrod Evans I suppose with Holmes or Adams back up 15.

‘All-in-all’ was meant to be a rather large proviso and clearly both teams made several mistakes. But, both teams did a lot of things well. Since nearly everyone made errors they would not have usually, I presume the conditions were a major factor - (I’ve never played and I guess each team is familiar with rain), but I’m guessing it’s easier to make a mistake than capitalise on one in such conditions.

Forgot Amos, he could slot into bench over Watkins.

Wales did play well in the 1st half. They got monstered by a ****n huge team and defended well, stuck to their game plan. It worked, the frogs were knackered.
Its a shame because as a dyed in the wool England fan I love seeing wales get stuffed, and its probably better for us to have them beaten by France. However, you have to recognise a decent game when its played.
I think the 6N just got harder for us.

Just see what happens if england beat ireland

I don’t think you’ve got too much to worry about there, to be honest. I’ll be happy if England can keep it within ten points.

Just catching up with the Wales France game.....Huget....haha couldn't have happened to anyone better.

Why isn't Biggar starting ahead of Anscombe? Wales really need Rhys Webb back too (his family have all moved back home recently, so potentially he could even be back in time for the rwc)

Wasn’t it 8 handling mistakes, 5 penalties, 2(?) lost line outs in the first forty minutes? They also leaked two tries. The only good point was the scrum.

Slightly ironic that, in a country full of rugby players who ALL want to be a fly half, there aren't a lot of fly halves around!

Someone’s strangling a cat in the crowd.

It’s making the game unpleasant to watch!

If Scotland had received a yellow card for the deliberate knock-on things could be a lot different.

You'd have to really want it to say that was a deliberate knock on.

If you can get two hands to it it's fine.

Okay. It just didn’t look like he made any attempt to catch the ball.

For once I can see why tj is so enamoured by Finn Russell, he has been very impressive. Can he do the same with less space and time? Will he still try to force things when behind?

Wtf? No TMO review of that try? Pearce is really happy to let the game flow, isn’t he.

Quite a while since I have seen an international defence as passive as the Italians in this game.

😂 Not just the last ten. On the few occasions that Italy managed to get the ball through the game they made ground. They just couldn’t do anything useful with it until the last ten.

I'll take the points but we can't do that next week or we have no chance.

@Tom B yup, perhaps it's a new fashion. Wear the opposition down with all that running they will have to do. They were not even aiming to make contact at the gain line . . . baffling.

Can we make it a 60 min game in future please? I am certain we would not have seen all those subs so early if we hadn't had a good lead but boy did we switch off and loose all organisation in defence. To me it shows once again how much we need laidlaw for all his faults. Maybe not having a lock on the bench was a mistake as well in hindsight

Great tries, great counter-attacking from deep, King Blairhorn is showing what an impressive player he is and Hogg was very sharp as well. Johnson a very good début. Disappointing mauls and we need someone to mange the game when laidlaw is not on the pitch.

Here is a question tho - we know Wales almost always kick deep and infield from their 22 - what will Gatland do given how well Scotland couterattacked off deep kicks? Biggar to start? ( I know its not next week)

I’m not totally comfortable with this but, c’mon England. At least let it be a better game than Scotland v Italy.

Oh - not a single brainfart from Russell? But still his sublime touch to set up scores.

Wales will do the same and back their defence. Rightly or wrongly, they do the same v NZ.

Yeh France out muscled and out paced Wales in the first half. I can only guess the tactic was to tire the French out. Which seems to have worked.

Probably AA - I think Wales should play Biggar tho for his great kicking game and of course its predictable Scotland will run the ball back I guess

If all the 15's are broken he might be by default as Anscombe will be at 15.
