I am no expert so perhaps you guys can tell me why coming out of position is a good thing

I can think of two/three reasons, other may have more:

a) He can inject pace/ elusiveness / different style of play than might be expected if the ball was just fed down the line predictably from player to player

b) By moving around in attack, he drags his opposite number around with him, potentially opening holes for other people to exploit.

c) He lends his energy to the team more often, rather than standing out on the wing letting everyone else do the work which lets them have a little % more respite.

Yes that all makes sense. Also I have just read the guardian article on Gashton selection and they said

"Nowell excelled in his roaming role against Ireland and can consider himself unfortunate to be relegated to the bench but Ashton’s try-scoring threat has ultimately won him the nod. "

So I have learned something there, I'll just pop back into my box then.

I though Nowell was the stand out back last week he was excellent in the role he was given. Surprised that its not being tried again with the big French forwards especially after Adam's break for Williams try showed the way last week.

I guess we will see how many tackles Gashton misses and then perhaps Nowell will come on..

Making sure he’s fresh / fit for our trip to Cardiff?

Ha ha. If both teams won this weekend, you boys will be well up for ruining the party, especially at home. EJ would be a total mug not to be worried about a trip to Cardiff.

Jesus that 2013 game still makes me feel sick.....was it that match that the Welsh fan ran up and headbutted the England team coach as it was arriving? 😂😂

Is that picture from your ‘personal’ collection AA? 😉

I’d look pretty cheesed off if Cuthbert the Donkey had got through me to the try line too....

I’m really looking forward to today’s big match, from a completely Neutral PoV. If Scotland click, I think they’ll win.

I love all the hatred for Brown. I can’t think of a more dependable England FB for 20 years. The fact he winds you lot up makes me like him even more!

I’m really looking forward to the Scotland Ireland game today. I doubt I’ll bother with Italy Wales (I never really watch any games featuring Italy as a neutral).

Of all the games this weekend for me the most predictable is the Ireland Scotland game. I honestly can't see Scotland winning, I don't think last weeks Ireland form is an indicator of the quality of their game. I really hope not, but I expect Scotland to get mullered. Ireland have better players, more strength in depth, are more drilled and a well practised game plan. They will come out roaring.
Wales Italy is the more interesting fixture I think.
Plus I can't see France being a predictable game.

#metoo. He is great and successful player. The fact that everyone hates him is because he is so ****ing good.

Cuthbert was a ****ing outstanding try scorer for a year or two, then lost a yard of pace after injury and his head went, shame.

Yes Brown is a good (not great) player but the reason people dont like him is that he's a weapons grade ****.

This never gets old!

Looking like I will miss todays games due to mrs anagallis throwing up all night and child taxi service. So if Wales lose and I go quiet its just coincidence. I'm not doing a Mike Brown!

a_a you have a habit of making me very anxious,(as I know fine well that you know far more about rugby than me), but do you think Italy are going to win? Whilst I’d agree they could win, I cannot see them winning like I could potentially see England winning despite being the underdogs last week. Scotland, France and Italy could win today, but I’d have put their chances in that order - what do you think?

I dont think they will but they target certain games and this will certainly be there big chance of a win this season.

Agreed, along with their game against France I guess. I certainly won’t relax today until (hopefully) Wales go 10 points ahead. And should they do so in the first half, I’m hoping (unreasonably) for a Tonga-like score.

Corrected HTH.

I’m more than happy to be corrected, but there is no chance of Italy beating England (unless England have two or more players sent off).

Ps Although they could find a rule England are unfamiliar with I suppose - you may have a point 😂

Why is the referral allowing the 9s to handle in the ruck? More obvious for Murray.

No, but the Scotland v Wales, France v Scotland and Wales v Ireland games, still look like they’ll be tight.
It must be a concern for Scotland that they didn’t score despite all their possession in the second half. Whilst it was Ireland, they were at home.

No, but the Scotland v Wales,

I think that will be the least worrying game that Wales have after today. Yes, Scotland can potentially win, but they haven’t shown much to worry any of the top three. Blind enthusiasm and home advantage don’t count for much.

Some of the advantages played were outrageous, knock on given against Greig when SOB ripped the ball back is what seemed to file him, Hogg trip should've been a penalty too.

His comms with the players and TMO are awful too, his English is really poor so he often confuses words etc and people are left guessing what he's on about (Obviously his English is way better than my French)

The Wal-Ita match is carrying on from the second half earlier . It’s the sort of game you’d expect on a rainy mudbath in Div 2.

I was more annoyed by Murray having hands in the ruck. Not the best reffing in the six nations.

Grr - wales underperforming again. And two tries which should of been alowed - off JD2’s knee (not above the knee) so no knock on, and a flat pass from anscombe

and a flat pass from anscombe

It really wasn’t. It was forward and a correct decision.

More concerning is why everything this weekend is going to the TMO compared to Scotland’s game last week, where every dodgy try was waved on.

Wales are winning the championship on points not scored, anyway. 😁

Umm clearly above his knee

From that picture or the replays? You must have a different definition of ‘clearly’ than me - I thought it hit his knee, although I am far from certain.

Looking very much like Wales will need to win all their games to come top - not looking too promising at the moment.

That picture, its above his knee cap

You cannot accurately view 3-dimensions from a photograph, you cannot be sure he is in contact with the ball at that point.

If you watch the replay, his right knee, the bandaged one is below the ball and his leg knocks the ball forward. Its 1hr 53 in to the show. https://www.itv.com/hub/six-nations-championship/2a4295a0024
Also reviewed at 2:21 where its clearly shown.

Let’s hope the men can keep up the winning run over France after the U20’s and ladies both win their matches.

I’m just waiting for last week to be a false dawn and a steaming heap of shit to be served up at Twickenham today.

This could well be a rout of England keep this up. Big ask for the French to not let their heads drop.

They’ve really lost the kicking battle in a big way.
