I've seen Argentina play much better it's like they have turned off their rugby brain.
It's the Ford show right now but better teams will soon sus that.
Not the best

With Ford starting and Smith to come on Farrell should never play for England again.

But he will.

EDIT: and this shouldn’t be news and should have been the norm for the last 3 or 4 years!

Alternative view, it’s an interesting game

I mean it's a view!!!

I am sure it's a great watch for an England fan but it's been a shit game for a neutral. Argentina have got nothing right, kudos to England for that but it has been poor

As a Welshman I’m enjoying it.

A team missing a flanker, previously been known to defend pretty poorly, struggled over the last few years….

And now looking organised, a scrum half who was actually trying to go forward at pace. I always enjoy watching Lawes play. So for me, it’s enjoyable.

ARG have now infected the commentator, unforced errors left right and centre. Gave ENG 3 extra points to 27-3, scrum for held up over the line and now Curry's yellow card.

Agree, don’t think anyone will be worried about England. Still very blunt in attack.
They’ll still give away a lot of penalties against better teams. But fair play to them, they did what they needed to do. A very good England performance all things considered.

Agree it was a shit game. Argentina were horrendous. One try and that was at 77 mins.

Great win I thought. Playing pretty much a full game a man down and dominating a top team. Arg were shit, but that was because of Eng pressure.

Building blocks.

Ford was fantastic.

England deserved that for the defensive dominance.  No argument with that.

Agree with that.. Argies were favourites going in and we thrashed em, so that’ll do for me.

Will give them a positive report card for the defense.
Ford and Lawes as always put effort in.
Attempted running with the ball 3/10
Argentina, left the playbook on the bus in the carpark.

RFU " nothing to see here English rugby is right on track please ignore the financial state of the game at home we know what we are doing. anyone got some fancy biscuits"

Rubbish game if all you want to see is champagne rugby. Whichever way you cut it, that is one hell of a performance with 14 for the whole game.

The only team that are a genuine contender, that play 'nice' rugby, are France. SA only play when their big lumps have got them a penalty advantage or they are ten points clear. Ireland purely play the percentages too.

England will not win this tournament, let's not get carried away. But as a one-off performance, it doesn’t get much better than that - given the circumstances.

Argentina were bloody awful, but that's not England's fault. Argentina couldn't keep the ball in hand enough even if they had the right ambition (which should have been to play side-to-side way more and try to get around the corner and/or dog-leg the defensive line).

As mentioned by the commentator, all the time ARG were being so obliging in the version of the game being played, why on earth would they want to see if they could play an alternative one better?

Lawes and ford were superb I'd be concerned about how England go into contact. Winning ugly is still winning.

I thought it was the most entertaining game of the day. Not 'great' rugby, but plenty happening and some decent performances by England. For once England weren't the team unable to think on their feet. Dalallio & Woodward getting totally carried away, but there was enough there imho to suggest England could well make the semi-finals. I'd have liked to see Marcus Smith play at 15 for part of the second half with Ford still at 10 - Freddie Steward just doesn't seem to be an attacking threat.

Argentina were bloody awful,

This really.  Japan will be another tough game and then if we top the pool we’ll fall to a much better team.   For this game to have actually been “good” England might have scored a try or two.   Still a blunt attack hiding behind Fords excellence.

I thought it was a decent game.  Fair play, tries were scarce, but a good lesson in how to not lose when you're a man down from the off.  Argentina really struggled to do anything with the ball.  Fords kicking was outstanding. England should have been on their knees by the end.  Shows their fitness is good.

know there’s a strong ABE element of rugby watchers on here but any thoughts on the rugby itself? A rearguard performance that is actually worth commenting on?

Point of order, EVERYBODY in the world supports their home team then whoever are playing England, but yeah; it’s us.
And the game was crap.

Shows their fitness is good.

There were hint pre tournament that Borthwick was running them ragged and this was one impact in the warm up games.  Maybe it’s true, skill aside 14 playing at that pace constantly in the faces of the oppo shows fitness, although perhaps the effort told at the end with the Argentinian try.

Happy to see Chile score a try, entertaining game. I'd love to see Japan beat Argentina or England and make the semi-finals again. Same as with the last World Cup, the Japanese players are used to playing in the heat, they can keep up the pace right to the end.

That's nonsense (with the rules the way they are). That's a yellow minimum. Inconsistency. 🤬

It's poor. If World Rugby really want to continue this crusade, they simply cannot have games refereed inconsistently. 🤦‍♂️

Yellow. They have to be consistent even if the rules are daft.

I haven't seen a single thing yet to suggest that Scotland can win this game.

I can't see this going any other way than a steady trickle of points up to 60 mins then a deluge.

Mind you, surely a yellow coming for the Saffers front row for persistent infringement?
