WR has got to sort the scrum out haven't they? I know it's not normal for a ball straight out on the KO, and then a knock on immediately afterwards but we've had 4 minutes of 'play' and the ball's just gone live for the first time proper.

They need to look at that one. And now that should be a penalty try without a doubt. The high tackle kills the momentum.

The reffing is doing us no favours at all.  should have been a yellow earlier for a no arms charge into a ruck and also for someone trying to take Schumans head off.  anyway we get back into the game with a good try.

Thought this was going to be a disaster but we're making France work for it.

Not out of it yet but could have been five points ahead for the sake of about a cm.

Darge looks good!
Hogg: it wasn't the easiest ball to catch, but he makes so many mistakes once he sees the white line!
I initially thought France were going to breeze it, but clearly Scotland can compete. They need to stop making silly handling errors and to score next to stay in contention though.

I quite like Karl Dickson as a ref. But he's said "not for me" quite a lot. I'm not sure we're getting the run of the green.

Not after that - clear wrong side at a ruck interfering with the 9 leading to a turnover and a try.  awful reffing - 2 of the  french tries are reffing errors ( clear forward pass in the build up to the try before the half)

We cannot win if the ref will not give us anything.  Awful performance from the ref

And I hate whinging about refs generally

That’s starting to look like a long way back for Scotland.

It’s easy to criticise the ref, but he’s been poor so far.

Point taken twodogs but its awful.  Darge had his knees on the ground - maul called then a forward pass try given.  thats 3 tries from clear reffing errors

When have I said I hate whining about the ref?

Scotland seem to regularly have issues getting the ref on side or possibly dealing with a ref who is seemingly giving more decisions against them. It seems to cause them to come mentally unstuck so it's a double whammy disadvantage.

Need to sort it.

Ah, cool.

Cause whining about the ref is like 95% of the reason I watch rugby.

The other 5% is Marcus Smith's hair.

Reffing errors aside, there's some fabulous handling and short passes and offloads for the neutral.

I didn't know the French were fans of dodgy WW2 films though?

Slightly more impressed now with how Ireland fared a couple of weeks ago sans Sexton. This France side/squad is something else.

France have been utterly ruthless.

And as I’m typing that’s a superb try from Scotland.

surely Ntamacks hair?  He has the best hair of any player in the 6N.  Smiths just got the poor mans version 🙂

Scotland playing good rugby but France are aiming for the world cup.
Dupont is getting better and I can see him being world class.
If France get a water tight defense then it's game on for the world cup.

I went through an Ntamack's hair phase, but I think that was just a rebound thing after Meatball got a haircut.

The really worrying thing is that's two games in a row he's not looked happy.

I'm beginning to wonder if there's trouble in the camp again.

Well I thought France played very well, but they let Scotland into the game for a good period. If Scotland had had more composure, better discipline and not tried to force things in the final part of attacks, then I think it could have been far closer.
England will show today if they can challenge France in Paris.

As a neutral I can afford to be optimistic. If it was Scotland I would be worrying that any semblance of optimistic thoughts would jinx the team and lead to a huge loss.

I was feeling kind of hopeful going into the French game and look what happened.

It’s not high on quality in Twickenham so far. That first scrum must have taken about five minutes of game time. Feels like the penalty count will sort the result. Would prefer it was the rugby.

FFS, scrums are awful. Just give the side with the scrum a free kick. Taking up way too much game time.

I never know who to blame but the ref doesn't seem to be insisting on stability first.

I hate scrums too. Nothing better than when a game goes to uncontested scrums imho

Aye, same here. It’s supposed to be top class rugby though - shame to see so much time being taken up with scrums. If Moore was back commentating, he’d be having a fit. 😀

Only 3 points conceded against this team of world beaters when a man down isn’t too bad. Hoping for a better second half.

Thankfully the ref has been equally awful to both. Cuthbert always gets a hard time but he’s looking bright today.

Listened to the first 30 in the car - Dawson & Shanklin good analysers - very unbiased which is always refreshing.

I hate feeling optimistic about matches, that comes from being Scottish.
I used to like scrums - former second row many years ago.
