Although its only 30 mins from me, I've been once in the last 12 years.  I've been loaned an inflatable kayak and wanted some advice from anyone local as to whether its possible just to pitch up there and put it in the water (and get in it...)?

Website suggests a fee from a pontoon but what about from the bank?  Particularly interested in weekday evenings after school with the kids.  Website suggests no boats from the pontonn after 5pm?

Anybody know the drill?  Thanks

At Leek? In all the times I've been past (which is many) I never seen anyone official looking hanging about so I reckon you'll be reet. Don't go to the official carpark as it's actually a fair distance from the lake. Park in the village by the hotel and just walk down the bank I'd suggest. Just get you a postcode..

ST13 8RN for the hotel.

You could also try coming in from the top if you like. From Reacliffe road and follow the track down till you're next to water. There might be some locked gates though so take a chance on that end.

Thanks, I'll have two kids with me so I think the lugging over a gate is out.  Will try the hotel!

Tittesworth would be better I'd suggest. More rural, more scenic and virtually no houses.
