I posted some bike bits last Wednesday and they still haven't turned up. It's the first time I've not asked for proof of delivery but I have got the receipt saying "RETAIN AS PROOF OF POSTAGE" blah blah blah

It might be an obvious question but who should I winge at first?

Royal Mail customer help line but I think you have to wait a couple of weeks to let them try and 'find' it first.

Many years ago my parents sent me a book as a birthday present. I was in Germany at the time but it went BFPO mail so should not have been a problem.

Book never arrived and eventually they got the money back from the PO.

About 6 months later book was found amongst 2,500 other parcels in a secured mail wagon in a siding in Glasgow!

So don't give up hope just yet. 😉

Do you have any supporting evidence as to what was in the parcel; emails, advert etc?

This will all help when you make your claim.

I had some Fox 36's lost in transit. Weekly I'd receive a letter from RM saying 'if you dont reply within 3days of receiving this letter with the information we will take the matter as resolved' (or something like that).

That really annoyed me- constant letters with questions. So in the end I rang up and asked for the local Police to be involved (someone on here recommended this)- 2hours later regional Customer Services mgr called me and said a full chq would be with me within the next day. It was.

I've got the email correspondance as proof of value, that might help.

Agree with hora. Whatever you do don't let them close the claim down until you have received compensation.

There may be a limit to how much you can claim if you did not indicate a value. Think it's about £35 or so.

It's always worth the extra money to get proof of delivery.

Chances are that RM tried to deliver and the recipient wasnt in, they will claim to have left a card but probably wont of, ask them to call at their local sorting office, it should be there.

Or wait and it will be returned to you with a not called for sticker on.
Did you put your return address on it?

We send a lot of parcels through work and this happens far too often, but parcels rarely disappear forever.

There's a form to fill out. go to the post office (maybe on postoffice.co.uk), pick up a form, fill it out, post it (ha!) and you should get a result.
