I've never had this happen before.  The postie dropped one parcel through the gate for K.  At the same time, I got a delivery notification for something I've bought from eBay.  Royal Mail 48, not stealable (its' a couple of consumer unit RCD modules), £50 value.

I don't have it.  I chased the postie up the street, he said he only had one parcel to deliver which was the one he put through the gate.

What do I do?  Tracking says it was delivered 'in a safe place' but it actually wasn't.  Theres no photo.  Ebay are just going to say tracking says delivered.

this happened to me recently, in the end it was the sender's fault as they had got the house number wrong, worth checking they did not mess up, in my case they'd reversed two digits!

When postie drops off a tracked parcel here, he's always careful to scan the barcode on the parcel and we then normally get an email  update (often both from RM and ebay) to say a parcel with xxxxxx tracking code has been delivered.

We have not experienced what has happened to you and how the tracking codes might get mixed up I have no idea? Though I would say the RM App is far from robust.

Have you checked what RM tracking says for the parcel you did receive and the one you have not?

Edit: I think tractionman's response more likely.

Have you checked w a neighbor at all? I had an delivery notification once, and nothing was here, but they had dropped it off at the neighbor through an oversight (not RM tho). It was behind her gate

Postie here. If you contact your local delivery office with the tracking number they "should" be able to geolocate where the item was scanned as delivered.

It's Ebay so they *shouldn't* have been able to screw up the address (and it's only 1-15 in our street). I'll give it until Monday and put something on the street WhatsApp.

Parcel Force claimed to have delivered my parcel yesterday but it’s nowhere to be seen. All the people I’ve asked in the court yard if they have it have all said the same that parcel force have never delivered at 07:30am before.

geolocate where the item was scanned as delivered

that's what I used to locate the package, at a house a few doors down my street, I recognised their door from the delivery pic too.

It's Ebay

in my case it was a retailer and they must have inputted the house number incorrectly on the postal form as it was correct when I inputted it on the web-site order form! the postcode was still correct it was just the house number, so from the posties point of view it was in the right place.

I've dug into the tracking again and they've even take a picture of my wife's parcel on the path.  The same photo is on both items for the tracking.  mad.

I would be contacting your local delivery office about this. In my experience that would mean both parcels were scanned at the same location. With the tracking number of the missing parcel they will be able to see which postie scanned it and the location the scan was submitted.

Another possibility would be that the postie scanned the missing parcel before leaving it at another address and forgot to photo and submit it until they got to your address where they scanned the second parcel and photographed it and submitted it. In that scenario only the location of the second scan would be visible.

I've had several deliveries recently where the parcel was clearly still in the back of the van when the photo was taken. Fortunately, all were actually delivered.

Yeah, I've heard of that ^^ happening. Unfortunately it's someone not doing their job properly.
