I have a fairly cheap rower, which I decided to fit a couple of bike sensors to to allow me to record rows in wahoo/Strava (no I'm not spending £500 on a concept 2 device). The cadence is a bit of a headache as it records every pass by the seat, so effectively double accounting the cadence..so 48 rpm rather than 24 but I can cope with that. But the speed sensor (like one of these Garmin on hub sensors) was working fine, until it stopped half way through the last session. A quick calc suggest it was doing 500rpm (0.5m circumference, doing 15kph). Does anyone have any data on how fast these sensors are ok with? Not seen anything on Google yet.
A 29" wheel at 30mph goes at about 350rpm, so 500rpm should be no problem given that roadies regularly descend at speeds of 50mph or more. Could be that the battery went flat?
Oh, good point. I hit 70kph at the weekend on the road bike, which would be in excess of 500rpm. So yeah. Will have a look at the battery.

Put the sensor at the end so the seat only passes it once as it changes direction.
Either end would do it.
