I’m pretty sure he was never taken on by any band he performed with for his vocal dexterity!
The same is also true of his band mate in the Stones, Keef.
And yes, I did watch Hootenanny, and I said much the same to the mate I was watching it with.

I saw it but didn't hear it...got my timings all messed up for taxi service so I was parked up and the house across the road had a huge TV showing the show.

Looked ok and it reads as though I got lucky by not hearing any of it.

Definitely lucky swerve there DickBarton, I saw & heard it and winced through it all, still not as bad as Nina Simone at the turn of the millennium...

Turned it off when Craig David started his usual old bollocks.

Us too. He's the very definition of lift musak for me.

Sad sack telly (for us loners who found ourselves in at the bells) was pretty half arsed this year. Hootenanny is always last choice, largely because knowing it's prerecorded makes it feel so fake. But the Scottish (live) equivalents were so teeth itchingly terrible we ended up with Jools.

If anyone found themselves in Scotland in front of the telly at NY and thought that that's what we collectively found funny you'd be leaving thinking we were dribbling morons. It makes Mrs Browns boys seem almost clever! "Chief Commissioner Cameron Miekelson" (Jack Docerhty) and Boaby the Barman(Gavin Mitchell) - WTAF!

Read the headline and thought he was alive again.

Wood was so bad, it almost made you believe it must be live… you’d cut at least one of his songs if you could, right?

Craig David was actually quite good… I had low expectations though.

Read the headline and thought he was alive again.

I thought the opposite and got my hopes up - after seeing him on Hootenanny I added him to my 2026 celebrity death list so would have got some early points on the doors.

He was absolutely dire on Jools Holland. That said, most of them were. The fkn Kooks for gods sake. Where have they been hiding (and please can they go back there for another 20 years)? Heather Small's voice is still killer though.

In the past there was usually a mix of music I'd just about tolerate, some I'd make exceptions for, mostly stuff which was okay, with a few tracks I really enjoyed.

Gave it a wide berth this year, the last few years have had nothing for my tastes, and generally found them a depressing way to end the year. Judging by FB comments and the above, made the right choice to avoid!

Still better than the people who found themselves in Birmingham expecting fireworks for NYE!

When I watched a bit of Rod Stewart at glasto I thought his best was behind him, but he gave it a good shot. Ronnie should have stuck to the guitar.

Not that I can talk, I'm a crap singer but I don't get paid a fortune.

The rest I thought were good. The staged interviews could get into the sea. The same with any time members of the public are asked their opinion.

My big sis who was a huge Rod Stewart fan in the days of the Faces tells me she also chose to turn off Craig David and watch Rod at Glastonbury - "Gawd knows why, I thought he was rubbish the first time I saw it".
