Rom skatepark has just been given listed building status. It's a fantastic, iconic park and the only conceivable reason to visit Essex 😉

Every year, Rom was my birthday treat, driven down there for the day by my long suffering mum. I went back there about two years ago, but this time on my bmx (aged 41 now)

Long live Rom!

Me in the pool, late eighties.

Brick jump, oh dear, I had a top-knot.

Any other Rom folks here?

How come this didn't happen with the skate area on the south bank?

I am happy this has happened. I used to go to Knebworth Park which had a similar but not quite as good skate park as Romford. It was a very sad day when I turned up to see the bulldozers doing their stuff.
