Sadly Toots Hibbert died last night after (I think) contracting vivid 19. A huge contributor to reggae and roots music.
We had tickets to see him and the maytals in August at a reggae festival in MK but it was cancelled as expected and rescheduled for next year.
I shall be listening to 6 music today in the hope they play many of his hits.

Very sad, his version of Country Roads is one of my all time favourite songs.

Proud dad moment though - just told my wife & daughter that he'd died
Wife looks totally blank at "Toots & the Maytals" and my 18yr daughter says: you know, the reggae band. alexa, play sweet & dandy

I was just talking to my sister about the summer that the Toots ‘Reggae Greats’ island comp was the soundtrack for (along with Lee Dorsey) earlier this week...

I prefer the Trojan version of 54-46:

And my all time favourite, Time Tough:

Oh man, time tough indeed...

Very sad. We were lucky enough to see them live a few years ago and they were splendid. The BBC recently showed their Glastonbury set, which dates from the same tour. Look it up if you can.

Saw them at Wildeness a few years back. A collective joy descended on the crowd as we all bopped along in the evening sun. Just mega.

Big favourite in out house. Sad times.

ITVs TdF show played Toots at the end credits - nice touch.

Rest In Peace Toots , Such an influence on so many artists . To have bands like The clash , The Specials doing covers and even Mick Jagger and a host of others as big fans. My son and I quite often listen to Toots and the maytals on biking trips down the borders and I'm gutted I never got to see him.
A life well lived.

Tom Robinsons tribute show on BBc6 was very good as well.
