I’m sure there are a few Low fans here but very sad news that Mimi has passed away today.
Astonishingly creative and ever changing, with such a catalogue of memorable music.
My favourite linked - I love effective repetition and loud guitars and this just gets me every time.

Really sad about this. Low are probably my favourite band, and certainly my most listened-to. Their music is a bit of a comfort blanket and has dug me out of a lot of emotional black holes over the years.

But they've also been getting better and better with every album, and can slap you around the chops with some really startling and adventurous stuff. I'm genuinely sad that I won't hear what they do next, that there won't be another album from them.

Or gig. Had tickets to see them this month.

Here's one of my favourites. Possibly the only 'drone' type tune that can have me punching the air in jubilation:

I too was really saddened to hear this earlier. Uniquely captivating voice and fabulously inspirational live perfomer. I remember being at one of their gigs at Òran Mór when a scuffle broke out down the front during one of their slower numbers. At the end of the tune Alan joked that in all their tours over the years the one thing that Glasgow would stick out in their minds as the gig where a fight broke out. The memory brought a smile despite the sad news. RIP.

Rotten news. Never saw another performer move an audience like she could. I remember attending one of their Christmas shows in Glasgow and their wasn't a dry eye in the house after she sang 'Holy Ghost' - just wave after wave of applause. When it finally subsided, Alan leaned into the mike and said, "She's also a really great cook."

RIP indeed.

Ha! I was at that one; some drunk gobshite who wouldn't shut up during the gig. Very unusual; I've never seen a more reverential crowd than theirs.

Very sad news. I read a lovely interview with them in Uncut a while back, which encouraged me to check out more of their music than the one album I had, and I was going to see if I could get to see them if I could. Sadly not going to happen. ☹️😢

Resquiescat in pace, Mimi

So sad.

Last saw them only in April this year, in Edinburgh.

They were quietly wonderful, as always.

Saw them in the Union Chapel about 20 yrs ago. Sublime music and a wonderfully understated performance. RIP.
