I can take It no longer. Money money money. Managers whinging. Mourinho. Idiot brain dead players and their stupid wag girlfriends. Money money money. Borussia Dortmund can sell a season ticket for the price of a single Arsenal home game ticket. People who live near the grounds can't afford to see a game. It turns my stomach. My back has now turned for good. It's totally ****ed up. Peoples game my arse.

You don't have to watch a premier league team.

I love F1 but I can't/won't pay to go to an F1 race - I do go to lots of club meetings though where the costs are a lot lower and the racing is just as good or better.

Just go and support your local team. I went last week to watch Ramsbottom United get themselves to the dizzy heights of fifth in the Evo Stik Northern League.

The banter from all the old blokes around us was pure comedy gold, and it was 2 quid for pie and peas at half time 😀

Watch the big boys on TV. Go and see the smaller teams live. Better all round. That and completely ignore the wags.

I gave up football in 2001, it's up there with stopping smoking as a life enhancing moment.

The money that's paid to the PL clubs should keep prices down.
Murdoch may be guilty of many things but I reckon the clubs need to take the blame solely for turnstile prices

I'm with the OP.
It's only football and your team losing/England being knocked out of the World Cup isn't the end of the world.
I wonder how many big earning ptofessionals'd be glad to have a normal job that doesn't pay thousands, even if they don't play, like in the days before it became all about money and all corporate?

whats the problem with people spending their hard earned money.. I dont think that football fans are forced to go to matches. Simple case of supply and demand .. unlike the utility companies 🙂

If murdoch's cronies didnt pump that tv cash into the premier league and gave it to the poor in africa we wouldnt be seeing those bentlys in the car park

Watching football is pretty boring.. How players earn that kind of money is beyond me.
Paying to watch a football match is as mystifying as why people go to church.

The decision to turn your back on football's much easier if you're 10 years old and your dad's trying to get you to go to Tynecastle every week. Sticking with the church metaphor, it's a bit like that except with cthulhu worshippers' weekly torture and sacrifice sessions.

Never got this country's seeming obsession with football, it's not like the national team's ever been any good and at the end of the day it's only a game, so why do so many media sources insist on constantly forcing upon every member of society as if it's something to be worshipped?

I just don't understand. Is it some form of replacement tribalism? Might explain why so many football fans appear to have just fallen out of a cave....

People in Spain generally earn 1000-1200 euro a month and the average wage in UK is probably a bit more.

I often have this at work, (prisoner)'which team do you support Mr G?', (me)'None, a can't stand the game, it bores me to tears & I hate whinging overpaid footballers, bunch of nancies', (prisoner) 'so who do you think will win this weekend between A & B?' (me) '**** off, I don't give a toss', (prisoner) 'I know but A have got X back after injury & are probably favourites' (me) gets extendable baton out & pulverises prisoner to death. Well not really but I want to.
One reason my wife loves me is cos I hate football.

Jamie, one could equally posit the following;

What do those who like Apple devices or football have in common?

They just luuurrrve telling everyone about it.

😉

Having spent some time in Scumpton on Solent, I do have a soft spot for the Saints, so assumed this was a thread about their marvellous victory. Hell, I even went out and joined in the party when they beat a team playing in grey some years ago...!

No, just don't want to hear about it all the damn time. Football is football, if we're being generous it's sport, it isn't news and it isn't important.

I hate how you're treated as an ignorant out cast if you don't like football...

I don't like it, its boring (IMO), and you can't talk me into liking it! get over it!

I'm also baffled why football players get paid so much.

Players get paid a lot because an awful lot of the world love it and pay to watch it. There really arent that many pro players and they are the ones people want to see, not the owners etc.

I also hate the prevailing opinion on here that if you like football you are some sort of neanderthal.

Go into any Apple thread, there will be [s]mikewsmith[/s] someone saying they don't like Apple. Go into any football thread, of which there only a few, and you'll have the same. Yet in any Android/PC/Rugby thread you never see anything analogous.

Just seems odd.

Hmmmm, pretty obvious troll, or should I say 'trailing leg' a la Gareth Bale.

The premier league (small 'p' and small 'l' intentionally) is a circus. Over-hyped crap in the papers and broadcast media, imbeciles earning millions every year and thinking it gives them the right to be heard, 'professional' sportsmen who act hard but spend their time rolling around like girls trying to get their fellow professionals sent off, silly haircuts, managers defending the indefensible because the players' agents have them over a barrel etc etc.

Thankfully I can look at this with the detachment of a bemused bystander because I don't really give a toss about soccer. Yep, that's right, SOCCER!

The opium of the masses? Yes, probably, but that doesn't make it good!

Each new 'story' is a living insult to the ordinary fan. It was said that the lottery was a tax on stupidity, well I think we can add soccer season tickets to that list.

My preferred sport is cricket. You don't get prima donna flouncers in that game, oh, bugger, hang on a minute..........

I've just watched the Southampton game on MOTD. You'd be hard pushed to say that wasn't entertaining.

Watched the arsenal game too, and Chelski and City winning. but we all have to make sacrifices.

Fingers crossed West Brom don't put five past us Monday night

Don't suppose anyone lives near that nice Mister Branson do they? If so there's a shiny fivepence with your name on it if you'll poop down his chimney. The first saints match I've not streamed in ages, all thanks to virgin slowing to 90s dial-up speeds for most of the day, and this happens.

Goddamn you for denying me stolen football Branson, goddamn you.
