Thinking about doing some rick-shaw driving in the evenings to get a few bob. How exactly does it work though, I'm confused about the logistics of the whole thing. Is it more common to own your own or to work for a company? How does the pay work if you're working for someone? Will I get rich? 😀 .... Think I know the answer to that last one, but it might still be fun.
If you need to own your own then I don't fancy riding the damn thing about 40 minutes in and out of the city every day to start work!
Unless you're in London I cant see it working, and even in London I have hardly even seen them in use. No idea about cost and owning the bike.
Mate does it in Glasgow, another mate does it in Edinburgh. Not sure how the Edinburgh one works, but the Glasgow one is an Irish guy who owns about 10 of them iirc, and rents them out for a flat rate a night, last I asked it was 25 quid
He keeps them in a lock up in the city centre. He reckons he can knock out 300-400 for fri, sat and sun night. And he can climb like a bloody goat off the back of it..
I thought a rickshaw was a 2 wheeled thing pulled by a person ?,those pedal ones are trishaws or pedicabs (pedant content)
Looked into doing it in Edinburgh, there's always a couple knocking about throughout the year and obviously tons during the festival. You need a private-hire taxi license. I ended up not doing it cos the bloke seemed a bit shifty and other work came up.
I reckon it'd be quite a money earner if you bought your own and paid the £50-odd for the Edinburgh taxi license though. Cost my missus £20 to go the mile-or-so from the churches at Brunstfield down to the Sheraton at the bottom of Lothian road, and that's all downhill.

She'd have been on about £60/hour if she'd walked 😉
£60/hour, you say?

Check your town hall will issue pedicab licences. When I last checked Glasgow didn't but it may have changed as you see them about. Or they are turning a blind eye. I did prebooked only stuff.
PL insurance is about £500. Most councils want cover of 5 million minimum if you want to do any events.
Despite that I tried but I couldn't be bothered dealing with and getting rid of Drunk arseholes.
(In my case I had 6 passengers so maybe a pedicab would be different)
