I've got to copy an existing interface design for some equipment, which means taking a 128way (2X64) card-edge connector and manually soldering on 2 and 14 50ths of 50-way ribbon cable. Its a right ball-ache. There must be a better way.
Is there?

Solder the entire length of the ribbon then remove the solder in between the contacts with this:

Can't you get an IDC type connector?
