In town:
Daffodil
Champignon Sauvage (£££, Michelin star)
Petit Blanc
Curry Corner (ignore the name, beautiful food)
Thai Emerald

Out of town:
Green Dragon, Cobberley (posh country pub)
Plough, Ford (as above)
Queens Head, Longford (not posh, but the best quality home-cooked food)

Oh, actually, if it's for aleigh:
Bargain Booze
Charlie's Chippy
Cotswold Kebab

Depending on budget you could try Lumiere, or Royal Well but that is more gastro pub, plus IHN's recommendations although Curryv Corner has had mixed reactions recently on Tripadvisor (was planning to go but put off by reports of hike in prices and slow service since appearance on F word). For Indian India Lounge (next to Retreat), or it's sister restaurant Voodjan in Montpellier (down form Montpellier Wine Bar) are both very good.

If it's an important date you want to impress and they're foody then the Champignon Sauvage is the best - not cheap but good value compared to London prices and the bracket it's in.

plus they're original older sibling the Indian Brasserie on Bath Road
