It's a feature.

STW are using all our processing power to run the "shitload of other systems" that're intricately connected to the forum.

Cougar'll be along in a minute to explain.

If it makes no sense to you that’s not a failing of the forum or its owners, it’s a lack of comprehension on your part.

I only access STW at work, so it works OK. At home it fails to work very well.

Yeah there’s others mentioned this in the past, I’m not sure what causes but some think it’s related to ads.

Hmmm, I've just logged back in and got a Windows pop-up say Opera (my Browser) wants network access, cancelled that and it's okay now, well Opera still needs over a 1GB of RAM more than if I'm not on STW.

Maybe it's a efficiency thing, like "do some bloody work" efficiency thing.

Can’t always be Ads there’s a reason some chose Opera.

Firefox, with the Forum open, is using less than 1% of my CPU. Windows 10, Intel i5-3330 & 8GB RAM.

That's with a P, so no ads, make of that what you will.

Looks normal to me. If you mean still morbidly slow, laggy, resource hungry etc is normal...

I mentioned some months ago that opening STW on any browser causes my laptop to thrash itself and for the fan to kick in on over drive. So much so that Greta Thunberg blames me for Global Warming.

I'm on Chrome now and I've just checked - there are 13 instances of chrome.exe running.

Good work chaps.

😉

Brave privacy browser. On mobile at least, has turned the stw browsing experience from a device lagging, battery murdering resource hog into something normal.

I suppose a working iPad gives you the advantage of being supercilious on these occasions.

No, but it allows me to spot people trying to pretend they got the joke.

That gtmetrix site is interesting.

I've just pointed it at the new version of the site and that's faster. Though how the benefit of having zero users vs the downside of it being on a test server affects the overall speed I don't know.

Bless. I've been here an embarrassingly long time. I got the joke.

I refer you to my previous comment, Dharling. Are you a member of any committees as well as moderating?

Just being on this page (and the one I was on before this) has led Malwarebytes to "refuse to open a link due to phishing". I wasn't clicking on any link so I'm assuming that something on the site is doing something weird.

I'm not always 100% convinced by MWB but this behaviour is new. I've had a P for ages so it's not that
