So, Andrew Lansley's gone - to Leader of the House, which is where failed minister traditionally go to die.

The Clark/May battle is over with May sadly having won, and Clark being lined up to stop doing Gideon buggering things up more.

Jeremy *unt no longer the Hulture Secretary, now Minister for health...

Oh Christ. The new Minister for Health... apparently... believes in Homeopathy.

Such events only confirm the lack of specialism MPs have - they might as well be in health as in culture, since they have no qualification in either. GO, you'd think, would have a tertiary financial qualification. Nope, he did Modern History... Finest minds of the nation? The whole thing's idiotic.

Hunt - As demonstrated by his behaviour earlier this year, he is morally weak and easily bought, so ideal to run the NHS while all those wealthy Tory supporting private healthcare providers are trying to bite chunks off it.

Still quite astonishing that someone who came under so much pressure to be sacked in thier last post can be given such an important job. He apparently co-authored a book calling the NHS a 60 year old mistake.

spelman said she'd quit if heathrow got a new runway
paterson said hes in favour of it previously, can you see where this is going......

as for hunt at health im really not surprised
Another posh boy whos had a 'job' in PR (believes in homeopathy FFS!) hes a tax avoiding, expenses stealing, numpty who oversaw the g4s olympics debacle, is blatantly murdochs puppet, essentially a poster boy for the modern Tory party.

Do you think it matters at that level? Denis Healy had no economic qualifications AFAIK and he was the strongest chancellor of modern times [albeit when the country was on its back]. Estelle Morris was a teacher and was a notably weak secretary of state for education. There are probably loads of examples along these lines - it's more about capability as a leader I would have thought than any particular expertise.

Transport secretary binned seems like the green light to get Heathrow expanded.

I think it probably helps if the minister understands what his civil servants are talking about, yes.

Of course it's not all about qualifications, but it is a little weird that our ministers don't have to be competent in their departmental field.

Most of the people I've encounter who belive* in homeopathy are cretins. Most government ministers (of both sides) seem to demonstrate they are cretins on a weekly basis.

It suprises me its taken until now for the two things to be linked.

However there is more to this than meets the eye. He doesn't appear to "belive" as in "thinks the memory particle guff is true", but instead "belives" as in "recognises that it is a way of envoking the power of the placebo to persuade retards and hypercondriacs that they aren't ill, therefore saving the NHS some cash to treat real problems".

There are ethical issues with this apporoach, not least giving loads of dosh to quacks and con men, but there is scientific eveidence to show that it is "effective" even though it doesn't "work"

/pedant mode on.
Apparently there hasn't been a previous shuffle, so it's actually shuffle Tuesday rather than reshuffle Tuesday.

Fiddling while Rome burns. The only thing that really matters is that Gideon is still in place to continue his ceaseless quest to completely destroy the economy. Business as usual then?

Jeremy Hunt is the new health secretary. In Parliament he has been a supporter of homeopathy, against abortion, and against hybrid stem cell research. And he called for the NHS to be dismantled in 2009. He also tried to have the NHS section of the Olympic opening ceremony removed.

And apparently, though I've not checked, the new environment minister is a climate sceptic, and the equalities minister voted against marriage equality.

Transport secretary binned seems like the green light to get Heathrow expanded.

Though the new transport guy is scared of flying, so maybe not.

A previous transport guy though that electric cars would reduce congestion...
