Hi All

Can I ask for the hive minds advice about possibly helping someone undergoing cancer treatment to fulfil his desire to travel and explore the world when he won't be able to physically ?

A friend just asked my advice about virtual reality headsets for this, for someone in later life and I don't know any answers but would like to be able to offer some advice or help, hence the request. The goal would to virtually explore, places like Japan etc.

Would something like the Oculus quest connected to a laptop be of value? What level of computer or laptop is needed to drive these - are we talking high end gaming machine or can a standard decent laptop work? Are there sites and applications that would work? https://www.oculus.com/quest-2/

I don't have much idea of budget except that we're talking in the hundreds not thousands - ideally as few hundreds as possible.

Thanks for your help and ideas !

Can't help with VR but I have pointed housebound people in the direction of Skyline Webcams.
I frequently visit all the major cities in my lunch break.

There’s always the old smartphone + Google cardboard as an interim!

Would something like the Oculus quest connected to a laptop be of value?

I was thinking the Oculus Quest + mobile app/360 youtube virtual tour videos?

Also can’t help with VR but Google has a good source of virtual tours of some interesting places.
