Right then STW, I have managed to crack the lens on the back of my iPhone. A trip to apple and the local repair man suggests that you need an entire new case to repair it which is a tad expensive.

However, a quick Google has suggested that with the help of a hair dryer (to soften the glue holding the lens in) and a razor blade (to ease it out) I can get the lens out. I can then buy a new lens for £2 and, along with some superglue can get it fixed.

So, before I attack a £600 mini-computer with hot air and sharp edges, what is the worst I can do to it? In my head the worst case is a still broken camera, am I missing something else that could go wrong?

My plan was to use this method, brave? Stupid?

Edited to put the correct vid in.

Unless you have ladies hands, I would be inclined to pay somebody else to do it. I tried to replace the screen on a 5s. It was never right again.

If you are determined to do it yourself, ifixit are usually quite good guides

Well, you're not actually replacing the lens just what is, in effect, a clear filter. I'd give it a go as obviously it can be done judging by that video. Just be very sparing with the glue and you should be ok.

Not done repairs myself but the fella who does in the department uses a magnifying glass on a mount to get a closer look at what he's doing. Probably a good shout.
