So I've got this nice big rooflight in my kitchen with 2 blown glazing panels - I've just been quoted £3,500 to replace them!

kitchen window

This is more than twice what I was expecting - I suspect I'm being ripped off!

Just had a 900x900 4-22-4 silver clear toughened at £72 inc vat and thought that was steep. Is your price supply and fit? Access issues? Those are big ol awkward weights swinging around at height.

When I had the first 2 panels replaced under warranty the guy turned up on his own with a little scaffold tower and replaced them in the afternoon so shouldn't be too much trouble.

Been a problem with float glass (could be something to do with Brexit)

Done some big steel doors and yes i think its very expensive, i would get a quote for the panels to aee what they cost and go from there.

It’s about ten times what I’d expect. I’ve just bought a slightly smaller toughened unit for £100 which i thought was a bit steep, and was warned it would take longer than usual - 4 weeks. Not the end of the world.

Just heard back from the company quoting me - I guess this is bull:

"With the system you replace not only the glass, but the frame of the panels as well."
