Saw one yesterday - fab! The modern heir of the Sinclair C5.
And just as weather-proof.
Did you try to get into the back seat, Molgrips? It took me two attempts and I'm neither tall nor fat nor lacking in flexibility. In the drivers seat I found rearward visibility poor for what is intended to be a town car.
Renault are talking about a 350km version of the Zoe for next year, if I were a British commuter I'd wait for that.
Not really a C5 cost £399 in 1984. Applying inflation that comes out at £1137 today. A twizzy costs FROM £6690 PLUS A MONTHLY BATTERY RENTAL OF £40/MONTH FOR THREE YEARS...
It might not work for me in the real world.
But I do like it, if most of my driving was around town I'd at least request a brochure. I imagine lorries to be a bit scary.
They had a few electric cars in Peterborough town centre last year during some kind of environment fair.
The Twizzy looked great, but I can't see it being ideal in the UK. I could imagine them wafting around European locations where the temperatures and lack of rain mean that they are a viable option. But round central London in the rain......? Not so sure, especially given the cost. You'd be better off getting one of those 3-wheel Yamaha scooters (yes, I know they aren't electric like the Twizzy) as you are gonna get just as wet in poor weather, but at least you can nip through the traffic.
We've got one at work, drove it last week. Nice idea but seriously uncomfortable, a real boneshaker. Also pretty useless if you want to move more than the driver and a single bag of shopping. Women seemed to love it though!

And then buy a scooter.
I saw one a few months ago in Liverpool centre. The driver looked seriously uncomfortable.
And then there was a torrential downpour....
And then buy a scooter.
Almost certainly, I think it'd be like when the Phantom Menace came out. I'd want to like it, but when presented with it I wouldn't.
I didn't have a proper go in it, I just saw one when cycling around. I had a brieft chat with the driver as we drove/rode along, he seemed to love it. I got the impression he was just trying it out rather than owning it though.
Just a cool vehicle in itself really - no idea if it's a proper solution or not. I'd probably rather have an electric scooter if they exist, rather than spend £7k
About the rain issue though - doors are an option it looks like, this one had them - not sure if they come with windows or not. They should.
Doors are an option. But not windows.
It has all the disadvantages of a scooter and all the disadvantages of a car (try filtering).
I don't think they are any wider than a GS with panniers on.
I like the look of them but just not practical for me. Last month my diesel costs were less than the monthly battery rental. They're quite common in Luxembourg though; lots of companies in the city have one as a runaround
