Morning all.

Any top tips for removing the smell of dog from carpets?

We have just moved into a new rented house and the previous tenants had a dog. The hallway, stairs and landing carpets were changed before we moved in, the upstairs carpets were replaced when we arrived but the lounge and dining room carpets remain.

There is a definite whiff of dog lingering in the air.

Copious amounts of shake and vac or is there a better solution?

(Replacing the carpets is notan option)

Ta in advance.

Oh, and buying our own stinky* dog is not an option either as Mrs B is allergic to them.

(* I love dogs and know that not all dogs are stinky)

Get a professional carpet cleaner in would be my advice - there'll be doggy oils in the pile of the carpet so anythign you do on the surface won't shift it.

Hire a Rug Doctor machine from B&Q.
We did, brought our 7 yr old cream carpets pretty much back to new, and lifted all marks / smells our puppy had made.
Cost £30 for a couple of days, and cleaned them much better than the 'professional' we had in a few years ago.

Rub a Cat on it... just like the white wine on red wine thingy, it's sure to work!

I'm not sure I need to worry about the smell as my dog has no nose.
