Hi, We've currently got a single smoke detector at the top of the stairs (this seems to be the best location), however I regularly set the alarm off while cooking. Is there a smoke detector available with a remote control so that I can simply press the button from the kitchen and carry on cooking? Thanks.

is it a battery operated one or a mains wired one?

We have 4 alarms (2x heat, 2x smoke - the heat ones are in the boiler room because occasionally I get my furnace burns wrong and push out smoke, and the other heat one is in the kitchen for when Mrs S is doing toast) but they are wired together so that if one goes off they all go off - including the one 20ft above the stairwell - but they can all be silenced by pressing the button on any one of them.

Shut the kitchen door / learn to be a better cook / fit an extractor fan / stop making the whole house smell of your burned food.

TooTall has the most practical answer but remote control is available. I've only seen mains powered versions like here as part of a wireless interconnect system. Battery versions may be available if you search.
