My son went on a school trip and on the bus back accidentally deleted all the photos he took!! He'll get over it but he is a bit gutted about it.

Does any one know a program that will recover the photos using a chromebook, I could use my work windows PC if need be though.

Free would be nice as well.....

Cheers.

Check the manufacturer's website. Most of the main players have a recovery utility available.

Shouldn't need saying but don't use the card until you have had a chance to recover the data.

Try Recuva. Free. Select the one from Faststone. There are several copycat versions.
It depends on how the images were deleted. If just deleted this "should" work, but if the card has been formatted than you could have problems.

You don't mention what make of card. Some come with a free recovery programme - SanDisk spring to mind. More info would help.

PhotoRec is good, it is free. Works on Windows or Linux etc, though probably not on Chromebook.

Looks like most are going to be windows or mac only so I'll probably wait until tomorrow at work....

Cheers for the suggestions though.

I’ve found from painful experience that formatting the card is less damaging to each file than deleting each one by one.

When you buy s9 SanDisk card the packaging carries a recovery link. See if you can find the card it came on - it will make life so much easier. Failing the buy another SanDisk card and use that voucher.
I might have one myself, but it will be tomorrow before I can look for it.

Recuva (see above) has worked for me in the past.

Maybe buy him a lesson in something called "backups"? 😉
