Looking for Wifey's BDay present; she's interested in a pocket-size HD video recorder - mostly for taking clips of Jr behaving like a chimp.
Any recommendations? She mentioned that it would be good to have a stills capability too, although we have a decent compact (Ricoh GX200) we she uses and I have DSLRs coming out of every cupboard :o)
Recognise the image quality will be somewhat limited, but all views welcome.
Cheers
I recently bought (in Feb) a Sanyo Xacti CA9:
Very pocketable (screen folds flat to the side).
It does HD 720p video at 30fps, 640x480 video at 60fps, and takes 9-megapixel still with normal camera stuff like autofocus and flash.
Plus it is waterproof so no issue taking it skiing, to the pool, or biking.
Costs around 200 nicker, though I think there are cheaper non-waterproof versions, and there may well be a newer version of this one by now.
Overall the image quality is pretty good, though it does get pretty grainy indoors in low-light.
Got a Toshiba Camilileo (I think it was the P30 model) for the same job. The interface takes a bit of getting used to, but it works very well. Only real failing is that it is p!ss poor in low light - but then it was only £100 or so.
